Air units

Air units are one of three types of units in advance wars dual strike. The three types of units are land units, naval units, air units. Air units are built on airports and they can be repaired and supplied there too. Air units are not effected by terrain effects, they do not get terrain defense stars. In addition they are not hindered by terrain movement penalties regardless of the terrain they cross. The only terrain they cannot cross is pipes. Air units also are not hidden by terrain such as woods.

Unlike ground units when an air unit runs out of fuel, they crashes to their fiery death. Watch out for fuel, if you need to get fuel back one thing you can do is land your unit back on an airport and get some fuel from the airport.

Commanding Officers

Several commanding officers have superior effects with air units.

Max:

Max is good with direct units and bad with indirect units, since all air units are direct units this gives max a significant boost on all air units. On land he is sometimes argued to be one of the worst CO's that there is because of the sheir effectiveness of indirect units.

Sensei:

Senseis battle chopters have an enormously powerful boost in versions of AW2; however, in AW:DS he isn't nearly as effective as he was previously with battle chopters.

Eagle:

Eagles air units have a boost to combat maxs and eagle also doesn't have any hinderances for his indirect units which usually puts him a CO tier above max.

Counters:

There are a few units that are effective against air units in all three categories of units.

Land: anti airs, and missiles. Sea: cruisers, and carriers. Air: fighters.
