Alternating Games
All maps have a little FTA (First Turn Advantage) or STA (Second Turn Advantage), even symmetrical ones. One game won't necessarily be won by the stronger player.
In order to decide who is stronger, you and your rival should have at least 2 games on the same map with the same CO, each playing the army that goes first an equal number of times. If you choose a balanced map, the better player should win both times. If the set of games ends in a tie this will mean that the two players are close in skill level.
Furthermore, if the army that goes first (or second) can win much more easily then the other player, the map should be judged as unbalanced. This method is often used in games of Go and chess. Both of which have obvious FTA.
