Hi everyone. I present you my third map. Again the first objective in making this map was to make a dead accurate map. Second objective was to make a very enjoyable and balanced map. Here is what is accurate: - Mountain range - Rivers (only put two in this map (Seine and Loire) - Properties (are located in the most important and accurate locations of the major French and British cities) Not so accurate: - Forests - Roads What I did to really balance the map is put the starting base of both team very far away from both armies capitals (London and Paris). The British army starts at the scottish location of Fort William and the French army starts in Marseille. The second thing I did was to put slightly more properties in France (+2) because the small distance from both countries and both capitals really benefits the British (who do have the first go advantage). The smaller size of the Great Britain makes it easier to defend than France as it is harder to land your troops there. All in all I tried to balance the game. Any thoughts? |

-1 Use the 4-way river for a lake. -1 HQ's are too far away from base. +3 Good terrain variety. +1 Accurate map of United Kingdom and France. 8/10 |
Solofo (11/19/2005 02:05pm):
ummm... just one thing though... HQ being very far from their bases is to prevent this game from being a quick capture the HQ game. So the name of the game is get to your HQ as quick as possible while capturing other properties (and the location of initial base are done so that if both team do the same thing, they arrive at their HQ at the same time). At one point I even considered making HQ far away to make this a kill every unit game, but having Paris and London as HQ is just too symbolic to ignore. So having bases far away was the best solution I found to have the game very balanced while having Paris and London as HQ. |

Piperunners must be banned, or else France can walk along the borders. |
Solofo (11/22/2005 03:32am):
You've got a point... didn't think of that... Ummm... let's see... how can I show that's it's foreign soil without screwing the geographical look... |
Nyvelion (01/07/2006 09:56am):
they won't be walking the borders with piperunners wihout bases next to the pipes... |
sharpshooté (01/21/2006 08:56am):
Unless they're Hachi, but then he should be banned anyway. Very well balanced and accurate. Great fun to play. 10/10 |

I absolutely love this map, but the FTA counter is TOO strong, Im playing on this map right now , and blue has twice the funds and income then me, and he will further increase as we keep going on. Either cut it down too one starting infantry, or make it so both starting infantry are not within capturing range of a base or city, please notice that the cities around France's base are easy to reach and access, where UK has the mountain trouble, slowing them down for a day.. Im not complaining that much, as I think FTA counter IS needed, but this is too much mainly because France can start capturing two properties turn one AND create an infantry that can reach a third property turn two... UK can create one infantry turn one, capture city turn two, create an infantry turn two, that cannot reach any bases or cities turn three... So pretty much France dominates capture phase, no matter what happens during the capture phase.. IMO you need to either remove an infantry, or make it so that their base and starting infantry are not within range of those 3 cities, Add a river or mountains? Everything else is excellent and well balanced,... Im playing a game as France now, and there is a clear advantage financially at the start of the game, I have access to that second base very early, so I got infantry and properties alot faster. FTA is overdone. |

Nice map. Very accurate and very playable. I'm starting a game on it now. =D 9/10 |
Erniewan (11/28/2009 02:35pm | Edited: 11/28/2009 02:38pm):
Yes, I agree that FTA is overdone. I'd propose that you remove the Pre-deployed Infantry from Blue Moon, as well as remove one of the close cities. And UK should definitely be Red Blaze, though if you made France Green Earth, you'd have to adjust the FTA even more. 7/10 for geography though. |

This map is very good. It's a lot of fun to play and except the FTA thing it's pretty well-balanced. 9/10 |

TI(GER)-86 (04/22/2014 05:04pm):
very nice |
Le lieu tenant (10/06/2021 01:14pm):
the top player simply cannot win. blue only has to spam battleships and artillery and capture his HQ. 1/10 |
