Excidium (12/02/2021 10:49pm):
Long ago, all the kingdoms of the free races were threatened by the powers of the Dark God, Narzek. Faced with annihilation, they set aside their differences and joined together to slay him. His minions were routed, and the outer walls of the Narzekian fortress were smashed to smithereens. Centuries passed, and the peoples of the Four Free Kingdoms forgot their shared struggle, and remembered their petty squabbles. Once more they waged war with each other. Unheeded were the cries of the historians and watchers in the south: Narzek's inner sanctum had never been breached, and now a dark power stirred there once again. . . |
Excidium (12/02/2021 11:19pm):
Factions: The Northern Kingdom of High Grondir (Orange Star): A sturdy people, at home among the mountainsides of the North. Their foundries are guarded by sturdy iron gates, and the mountains make enemy assault difficult. The main road winds back and forth to confuse attackers, but there are secret paths through their lands if one looks closely. Lake Hrath, formed of the melted snow from countless Springs, flows to the East and South down to Nimrel Vale. The Western Kingdom of Car Andoren (Blue Moon): A noble people, the first to answer the call of fallen Mithlandis when Narzek's forces first awoke. They are skilled at seafaring and horsemanship alike. To the south of their small kingdom lies the nest of the Sea Dragons, Car Serafen, and to the north near the sea is the great watchtower of the mage Hephastis, over which they constantly fight with Grondir. The Merchant Kingdom of Wendlin (Yellow Comet): A land of shrewd negotiatiors, they ever strive to keep the peace with the kingdoms that surround them, while pulling the strings to ensure that peace does not last between their neighbors. Though they were descendants of the great kingdom of Mithlandis, they inherited none of its noble spirit. In the far Northeast, some of their agents have traveled to rebuild the lost kingdom of Yareth, the abode of the dwarves before they disappeared. The Eastern Kingdom of Nimrel Vale (Green Earth): The winding forest of Nimrel Vale is home to the Elves, who dwell at home among the quiet rivers and trees of their land. Protectors of nature, they were swift to join with their former enemies, the humans against Narzek in the Great War, for Narzek's forces were unnatural in origin and their creations were abominations upon the land. However, they are no friends to humanity, and were quick to resume their conflicts after Narzek's defeat, but their scouts have remained vigilant on their southern border, for the Elves have long lives and long memories, and they did not forget that the dark powers linger in Narzekia's ruins. The Southern Kingdom of Narzekia (Black Hole): To the south lie the ruins of Narzekia, the dark citadel of evil which once threatened the world. All around the land lies blasted and barren from the magics which tore apart Creation itself during the Great War. To the North is the ruins of the fallen kingdom of Mithlandis, the first victims of Narzek's conquest, and to the west is the Westing Wastes, a series of unihabitable marshes. All that remains in Narzekia are a few forges in the deepest parts of the fortress, but rumors now tell that while Narzek's body was destroyed, his spirit remains, stirring his minions to evil once again. |
