I was bored, so meh. BH has one more airport but OS one more base. Funds are equal, good luck on your skirmish! |
x0_000 (04/17/2006 03:18pm):
BH has an easier time capturing the neutral cities outside the "fortresses". |
Calvacadeofcats (04/17/2006 05:44pm):
'Meh'? You sound like my brother, Maraj. Looks like a cool mappe. BH might have a slight advantage, but on the whole, snazzy! |
Evil Lord Canas (04/18/2006 01:18am | Edited: 04/18/2006 03:57am):
You are brothers? Heh, Maraj is a nice guy, he also likes to make sprite maps. x0_000, OS still has 6 neutral properties behind their walls but BH has a much harder time to defend their stuff outside. I need something to make each side unique but I`ll see what I can do to work accordingly. By the way, your 3 Star and "Easteregg" hack rock, I love to play with them. Edit: Moved both neutral cities at the sides more to the mini bridge & added 2 forests to the map. |

Umm, could you please tell me which units are NOT banned, 'cuz it seems like all units are banned. |
almightyjebus (10/08/2006 01:35pm):
do you think you could by any chance make another fortress map similar to this in a 20X30 size? |
isuck (11/04/2006 10:43pm):
If it's because you're planning to put it on your DS, then I suggest you make your own because they will probably go over the 60 surplus limit. |
SmileKZS (11/04/2006 11:13pm):
ban the piperunner and ban the black bomb. |
skiller (12/09/2006 10:17am):
how to play it? nothing happened after i clicked on a unit, why? |
Oracle of Wuffing (08/28/2007 12:15am):
Oh, bah, fat chance anyone'll read this, but anywho. I've just played a game against someone on this map, and... Okay, it had oddball settings and no bans, I won't lie... But I can't help but feel that BH is getting the short end of the stick here. I know the map analysis says otherwise, but OS is in a very favorable early-game position- it can start capturing two bases the moment it can move infantry, and start capturing two cities the next turn. It flips over to the opposite for BH, where they get cities and then bases... I really feel that BHs got a weak first turn in comparison to OS. Additionally, the lone Black Hole infantry, that's for countering FTA, correct? It really can't do anything. It will take three turns to hit the nearest capturable property, and those properties can be reached faster by producing Infantries on the default base. I think the best strategy is to deploy a T Copter and send it to capture the middle properties, but even then, the Infantry will probably be smashed by an OS Recon before it captures anything. Don't get me wrong, this is a very, very interesting map, I absolutely enjoyed playing on it, and evidently the analysis contradicts everything I say, but I think BH needs a bit more of an edge, and that Infantry just doesn't cut it... Maybe start BH with a piperunner or two, or change the upper corner OS cities to BH so OS needs to capture them quickly... Or maybe just take the infantry away, and add two BH infantry in the fortress' northern cities, so that they can capture bases with OS, then move the southernmost cities a step away. Anyhow, one of those... definitely not all. XD Again, this was a very interesting map, with a lot of strategic choices. |
Higurashi (11/11/2007 07:37pm):
Don't say that, Oracle of Wuffing. That was interesting reading, and looking at the map I have to agree to a certain degree. Then on the other hand, the situation can be taken advantage of depending on which CO one has. |
zywxn (04/27/2008 09:05am):
Wuffing, u made a tiny error, the lone infantry can capture the base at the same speed one produced on the default base can as the fta counter infantry is precisely 3 spaces away from the base which makes any infantry produced able to reach the base in the same amount of time. |

DUMB DUMB DUMB WHY DID YOU EVEN MAKE THE STAGE I MEAN SERIOUSLY BLACK HOLE DOES HAVE AN ADVANTAGE OF CAPTURING BASES AND ORANGE STAR WOULD NEED 2 OR MORE BASE OR EVEN ONE AND MAKE A DIALOUGE LIKE YOU LAST ONE IT WOULD MAKE IT LOOK THE SLIGHTEST BETTER I GIVE IT A 4/10 MODIFY MODIFY MODIFY |

Hmm I just played this map and I have to say that BH was at a disadvantage. Normally the pipes will cause BH to be inclined to play defensively and line up rockets and artillery behind the pipes. That may cause them to have a very strong base put have limited options for attacking. Furthermore the two sections on either side with three factories each in the OS base give it plenty of options for flanking attacks and will soon overwhelm the BH flanks who have only one factory supporting them. |

Interesting looking place --- BUT so many bases will produce mass infantry spam./too many units... and with the narrow passes in battle zone it wll be hard to progress Map Analysis is a bit dismal . An average of 10 days (+/- 10 !) with 12 infantry, 1.4 arty, 1.5 recon, 2.9 tank .. not much of anything except infantry. I think the 10 +/- 10 shows half the games were cut pretty short . A lot of newbs must have been through here and probly learned very little. --ONE SIMPLE SOLUTION-- cut down number of bases to 2 or max 3 per side (after capturing ) |
CO_Raven (09/24/2012 06:54pm):
I think it is also notable that there is something to be said for having more bases. More bases mean more infantry while 3 airports vs 2 makes no real difference. It isn't like they're going to be building 3 copters and a bunch of infantry. |
