8/10 Rating: I like the way the cities are paired up throughout the map. It adds both good design and interesting engagements. Overall I enjoyed the match I played, but the only down side for me is the HQ locations. I'm not a fan of HQ being placed away from bases, but with the Blackboat on top it kind of helps counter that dislike of mine. Side note: Airports are so far from the other corner com-towers that it's almost pointless to go after it. By the time you get the airport, engagements will be taken and a winner may even be decided at that point - especially if you make B-copts ASAP. |

Going to post an abbreviated version of the comments I made on the awbw discord: So this map seems to have some serious FTA tank order issues. The tank order my opponent got despite a reasonable cap phase got the tank order of ABABAB AABBAABBB i.e. P1 got the first tanks in all cases until P2 got a 3 tank turn eventually. It is possible with some suboptimal back caps to get a BAAB at the start but the overall trend is a problem (and the caps you need to do are suboptimal). For the map itself I think too many caps are too safe, terrain near HQ is too strong (which makes it even harder to contest) and terrain near some of the contested props is also strong (cities, silos) and then weak (lots of road/plain) which makes contesting harder. The airport is also a bit gimmicky since it can threaten to disrupt caps but otherwise is out of the way enough you dont want to build copters, an aa will track it pretty well. This also furthers concerns about TA in the cap phase. |
