Design Goals: - Make naval units financially viable without sacrificing ground and air combat too much -- High number of starting properties, with infantry to speed up capt phase (also provides some scouting info) -- big bay with contested properties to incentivize combat -- battleships can contest center and top island without completely zoning out either - Promote combat between all three move types -- air/ground and ground/ground on land -- air/naval and naval/naval in the bay -- naval/ground and ground/ground on island -- all three in center -prevent stalemate via late game counters -- comm tower islands are a pain to get to, and black bombs punish predictability (e.g. early game Javier), with tank scout to delay it further -- Missile island is also a pain to get to and surrounded by pipe seams, which should alert opponent if someone tries to use it early via artillery. -- a determined player could potentially HQ cap with the back route. cannot be interrupted from center base w/o movement boost -- opponents comm tower island can be stolen via same route, and could be guarded with unused black bomb, but it will be scouted by sub Potential Concerns: - Adder might be uncontested pick of T4, tried to open up some more plains for jake but idk - COs with good COP or SCOP, esp global damage, are gonna have a field day when expensive units start trading - Eagle and Drake might be OP but air and sea should both be important enough - Sturm recons might be OP as usual, but opponents should have enough funds for tanks to shut that down - Grit should be weaker on land, but battleships and carriers might be busted, albiet expensive - 2T Javier might be too strong, even with comm tower island countermeasures - Kindle will probably be as strong as usual |
