Very interesting. The setup of the cities creates a strategic start to the game, and
cancels out any first turn advantage there is. Can you make a passage for ships besides
landers that can get to the outside? That is the only change I would make. Butt I like the
feel of this map. Very nice.
Dullahan (07/13/2005 05:31pm):
I purposely allowed only landers to get to the outside, actually. That way, you can launch
sneak attacks with landers in FOW w/o having to worry about enemy subs. Plus, it makes it
harder for enemy battleships to bombard your HQ - as it is, you have to take one of the
upper/lower port areas to bring battleships into range, giving you a reason to make the
other naval units.

Edits:
-Added more properties for better naval action.
-Removed the center ports (since they were impossible to use due to enemy rockets).
-Easier to attack with land units, although battleships are still a must due to the
reinstated chokepoint.
-Naval units can now travel around the edge of the map - the catch is that you must
somehow pass through the enemy port, although landers still have an easier time than the
other naval units.
-Many more reefs added, including some on the edges to help out landers in FOW.
-Many forests eliminated to make it harder to defend with land units.

like the beach bit in the middle a couple of empty landers could create a nice wall (depending
on enemy rockets) nice touches 8/10

Even more updates:
-Bases have been cut down to 1 per side to emphasize naval combat.
-More ports added in more strategic locations.
-Distribution of owned cities at the start changed to make it more fair for BM
(previously, GE had too great of an advantage).
-Some cities removed to compensate for the additional ports.
AzureDrag0n1 (10/28/2005 10:10pm):
Why is there a forest missing on GE side near the port?
Nahbien (03/03/2006 05:04pm):
Dullahan, you do realize with the cross matched properties, that gives more of an
advantage to the first player, just think about it :)
LuminescentSword (03/05/2006 11:03am):
We just had this discussion on AWN, the properties advantage BM more. You're free to edit
it once whoever is playing on it gets off... (like me)
Silifi The Second (09/06/2006 03:46pm):
this map would be great if you switched GE and BM... the property set up gives an
advantage to BM.
