God, this map requires some rework, it's soo broken!
Jimbox18 (02/22/2024 04:01pm):
Dude, the world is broken. I think that makes the best maps personally as long as everyone playing as not all the same skill
level which I guess is also broken but again I think that makes the best experiences. personally, I think the map looks really
good. No, it’s not a balance map but like I just said nothing in the world is actually balanced. I used to make advanced
towards Maps 20 years ago and I was really good at balancing them I made some really good maps, but I can’t say with
enough enthusiasm how much more fun I had playing unbalanced maps. Also, being forced to counter someone that has a
huge advantage over you is very rewarding even just being able to stop them can be very rewarding even if you still lose.
Great map.

Great map.

I can kinda half-agree and disagree / half-disagree both, in 1 way i half-agree because i also like playing with on unbalanced
maps, provided that theyre still fun and engaging to play on, like if i just make a huge and narrow chokepoint with no
contested properties and / or anything to capture then sure the maps still unbalanced (not in the asymmetrical way) but its
not fun as well either, because theres no split decisions to make be madeing in whatever phase of the game is, and so
theres way and way to make an unbalanced map, also asymmetricality doesnt necessarily mean unbalanced, its just harder
to balance, if not REALLY hard to do it.
I also half-disagree because i still like playing on balanced maps too as i am someone who can kinda enjoys anything, like if
you look at my the current games that im playing, youll see that theres like 20 competitive games going on at once as well
as a few other games, most of which on really dumb maps lol.
And then finally i finally disagree with the fact that being forced to counter someone with a huge advantage is fun and / or
either rewarding, because imho when the outcome of a game is already predetermined, its not much engaging and / or
interesting to play on imho, like if im the guy being at a disadvantaged, and i end up even winning, it doesnt feel like its
because i outplayed my opponent, but rather because he was making some veryily incredibly dumb mistakes (i mean, yeah
technically its is still outplaying lol, but you know what i mean), this is why i prefer and like games to be even, because its
not very fun when theres no challenge at all, or viceversa when theres too much of a challenge to be even remotely fair.
Oh right and i also disagree that nothing is actually balanced, as ive said i think balancing is just hard to do, or slow, or both,
but its not impossible, especially when you can tune things a way lot more precisely, now, i think that tuning the COs stats to
be something like "+7% attack on infantry, -1% on their Tanks", etc. is counter-productive, not because it would make the
game less balanced or anything, it would just make it less intuitive, like look at modern yu-gi-oh for example, cards are
basically the entire length of the bible lol, is it still fun to play on? Sure, but is it a slog to learn what anything and everything
does, and much less interacts with each others? Absolutely, it doesnt help that yu-gi-oh doesnt have rotations and almost
literally every card ever released is tournament legal lol - for the banlist, im getting side-tracked here, but oh well my point is
that i think that balancing just isnt as impossible as people make it out to be, i can give a few examples of games being
balanced, like for example Dota 2 (a game with close to 100 Heroes) and Rivals of Aether, both are very pretty balanced, its
not perfect by any means (Rivals also favors some characters over others naturally due to how the games mechanics work,
which means that if you were to perfectly balance it, some characters would need to be naturally more toned-down
compared to others to accomodate for it, while Rivals 2 [still hasnt't been released yet, so i might be wrong lol] has more
options and mechanics, which actually makes it easier to balance, and also faster ironically, as you can now tune the games
mechanics themselves in order to make the characters balanced, a balanced system makes everything incredibly easier to
balance you would be surprised), ill give another example imagine that youre playing on idk the most balanced map ever, its
so balanced that literally every CO has 50% winrate and both Player 1 and 2 have a 50% winrate, but then you now ban
every unit except for Infantries and Tanks, and lets say that i buff the infantries damage such as that it becomes half, or
whatever other amount that of a Tank, so that theyre basically still required for the early game in order to capture properties
and gain money, etc., but would then become useless in the late-game because even if 2 Infantries can now take down a
Tank, at barely 1/3rd of the cost, it doesnt matter when i can only produce so many per turn anyway, what >>>

But anywayszh, why the SSS in the maps titleszhkrtrrrtrrdrrtrzszhdzszh names?
SIMΩMEGA (03/15/2024 03:23am):
what im saying is..., lol basically, that the more you strip down a games options and dumb it down, the more harder it
becomes to balance it, so lets say that terrain has no defensive properties, and all units fly now, and have the same stats
and prices as each others, but we have Tanks which counters AAs, AAs counter BCops, and BCops counter Tanks, etc.,
they all do the same damage to the countered unit, and take like idk half-damage from the countered unit, so a Tank vs. an
AA would do idk like 5 damage, but only take 2 or 3 in response, even without the first-strike damage from the reduced HP,
to make it balanced i would now have to make the COs give literally the same stats to balance it, like for example Tanks
have +10% extra attack, but BCops have -10% less, and so on, uhhh maybe im making the wrong examples and going
nowhere with this lol, but well in short, the more options you have = the easier it is and also faster to balance, both because
you can tune more things in order to achieve the humanly impossibley "perfect" balance but also because you make it more
complex as well too to the player to figure out the optimal way to play the game, and in a strategy game, if your game is
figured out then it becomes pointless to play on lol.

TL,DR: Yes, its an unbalanced map, because some sides have clear advantages over others, but its still fun to play on (not
because i like trumping stronger opponents than me), but because it gives a lot of choices and decisions to make, if i made
a map where every single property was 3 spaces from each other in a straight line, it wouldnt be as fun to play, and if to
reach the other side it was also only through a single-tile chokepoint, lol, because the game becomes so easy to figure out
that it basically becomes boring, so in a way im saying that balanced maps also make for fun maps, and while yes that is
certainly true, there are also boring balanced maps, maps where its not necessarily easy to figure out the optimal way to
play, but that it doesnt encourage much diversity at all imho, like Standard for example i find it boring and i almost basically
never play it because its a lot of Tank-spam and Infantry-spam for basically almost the entire game lol, which is also why
while High Funds is also High Fun 🍷🗿 lol, RPS is a balanced game, but its boring because each choice has the same
chance at winning than every other lol, it doesnt even matter whether you choose Rock, Paper, etc., its also about a Luck
game, but thats another topic lol, another game thats unbalanced and only fun the first few times you play it is Tic-Tac-Toe,
with perfect play you can either win or force a draw, while Player 2 can force a draw if also plays perfectly, actually nvm it is
balanced because since it guarantees a draw if both play perfectly (which isnt hard to do) its basically the epitome of boring-
but-balanced game lol, id say that probably League of Legends can best describe what im getting at, and Smash Bros. too,
so basically i think its kinda infamous how unbalanced league is, to the point where despite the game having a hundred or
so champions and characters to choose from only a handful are everly ever picked in a tournament setting lol, like maybe
10 or 20 at most, with the occasional wild pick, sometimes even only the same 2 or 3 teams comps lol, the game can still be
fun to play, and certainly so, but only with the right picks, or very abysmally low skill-levels so that the meta doesnt even
matter lol, like imagine youre one of the best players in the world and also play against the best players in the world, and
you pick a champion so bad that youre basically haveing required to be put double the work, and constantly have to be
playing from behind compared to your opponents, some people find fun in that i guess, its subjective but not for me,
because in that case, if i end up winning i dont feel like it was because i was genuinely good, but rather because the
opponent made some very incredibly dumb mistakes to lose to such a bad character, and viceversa if i win against a bad
character its obvious that its not because i outplayed my opponent but rather because his pick was really bad lol, in Smash
theres 2 characters that are consistently defined as the bottom 2 and / or worst characters in the game, that is Ganondorf
and Little Mac, with Ganondorf probably being the worst lol, and its really REALLY sad, because while both are easily my
favorites, i still end up getting stomped sometimes even against players that are average or at the same skill level as me,
and losing over and over because of a pathetically bad character just isnt fun, due to how unbalanced Smash Ultimate is
(despite easily being the most balanced in the series overall lollmao) i just got bored so much with it that i stopped playing it
altogether after like 4k hours, i basically made up some gamemodes like with Spirits (stat-boosting items, which arent
competitive) to break the mold basically, and well >>>
SIMΩMEGA (03/15/2024 03:37am):
well that was actually even a lot more fun than the base game, given how it opens ups so many options that werent possible
before.

REAL TL,DR:!!!!! Ok lmao i never got to the point so I SWEAR ill be brief and concise this time around 😂.
Ok so basically i have no qualms with unbalanced maps, regardless if theyre symmetrical or not, provided that theyre
actually fun to play on, fun as in give lots of options to the player for playing it the game how they want to, which is why i find
Standard boring and High Funds High Fun 🗿 to play on instead, as High Fun-ds has actually a lot more of unit diversity
compared to the other formats, but i should say "dumb" instead of unbalanced maps tbh instead, as when playing with a
clear disadvantage isnt that much fun, because if i then end up outplaying the opponent, its more of my opponent making
some dumb mistakes rather than me genuinely being a good player, so in short balanced should be better, but that isnt
always necessarily the case, because again, as ive said you can have balanced but boring maps, where despite the optimal
way of to be playing is pretty much clear, its still ends up being balanced, even without that many factors to consider..., well i
probably havent gotten my point across lol, and tic-tac-toe and RPS are boring because even if theyre perfectly balanced
games, theyre boring in that 1 game has only exactly 1 perfect way of playing the game, with basically no room for
strategizing, while the other allows different ways to play, but still no strategizing because its all just pure luck lmao.
SIMΩMEGA (03/15/2024 03:40am):
So im guessing that the key here to have a both fun and balanced experience is diversity.
And well..., now that i think about it dumb maps probably arent as fun to play on if you do it over and over and start figuring out
the optimal way to play the game... lol, well i tried explaining, in short i like balanced, but diversity is even more welcome, even
tho diversity actually includes balanced, because otherwise it wouldnt be diverse if only 1 way to play the game was
encouraged??? Lol 😂

I won a ffa on this map once 10/10

Bruh what even? Orange Star starts with FIVE(!!!) bases and has uncontestable access to THREE MORE.

Maps don't need to be perfectly balanced, no, but this isn't within a country mile of balanced. If OS loses it's because either everyone made a hard alliance against them right at the game's start, or because they're braindead.
ShiningForce4 (01/20/2025 09:16am):
Why does orange star have bases all over the map.
Too many forests as well
Jimbox18 (01/20/2025 11:37am):
Yeah, I ended up playing on this map. It’s incredibly broken. Orange star should just be removed and completely balance the
game so much more. I actually thought when I was playing that the person playing on star who was the host had broken the
map on purpose just so I get an automatic win. It’s funny because the orange star player claimed to be a disadvantage
saying, please align with me to several of the players in order to protect himself and being beaten early, but that’s not how
advanced wars works. All it takes is a single player to leave and orange star physically cannot lose if all the players stay and
play hard for the entire time it’s fairly balanced, but orange star still has an advantage.. like I said just before if Even one
player leaves the map orange star has uncontested access to all of those buildings if a second player leaves forget it. So I
should revise my earlier statement saying that it’s OK to be unbalanced. Unbalanced is fine because there’s significant skill
gaps as well but I’ve been playing this game a lot since I’ve made that post and I think the harder you try to balance the map
the more fun it will be in the long run, but it’s OK if it’s not perfectly balanced Unless you playing with everyone at the same
level .. Then it really needs to be balanced.
Also, I love seeing airport on a map this size. It would make so many more COs More viable.

I don’t understand why PL and BM are so close, or Yugoslav has no country, but Albania have
ShinyDeagle (03/07/2025 11:21am):
PL and BM are kinda force to ally otherwise they'll be fighting each other till kingdom come.
Bulletmagnet (04/26/2025 06:12pm):
JEEEEZ there are some long comments here
TOO LONG DIDN'T READ LOL
Neat map, thanks for designing it
CliveGlitch (06/23/2025 12:53am):
imagine my surprise when I find out people have been playing my modification from another map, why are people still
making games with it? Is it that good? At the time I just wanted some asymmetry with orange star but halfway through it I
just didn't care and forgot about this map...

Oh! If you watch closely you can see that OS has no labs but everyone else does... it was supposed for the lab to limit all
tech up units to balance the fact that Orange Star has this many bases... at most OS can build tanks, arty or AA, no medium
tanks, missiles, rockets or above; even battleships, cruisers and subs are out if you didn't have a lab.
NeotankGanymede2025 (11/24/2025 08:03am):
Why does orange have so many random bases?
