This is a historical/geographical map representing the Peloponnese and much of Central Greece in the Greek Classical
Period.
As I refine this map, my goals are 1) geographical/spatial accuracy and 2) rough parity/balance between players. While certain
powers had established themselves as preeminent in the period represented, I aim to prioritize a (relatively) fair start for
players over military/political accuracy. That being said, I welcome any comments and suggestions.
Player armies represent the following regional powers:
OS: Athens
BM: Sparta
GE: Corinth
YC: Thebes
RF: Messene
GS: Patras
BD: Argos
AB: Trachis
JS: Chalcis
TG: Elis
AR: Stratos
The comms tower is at Delphi.

I think that Athens should have additional funds because of how rich they were and Sparta should have Comm Towers to
show how powerful their army is. Athens should also play as Drake and Sparta as Jess.

Thank you sincerely for the input, @NeotankGanymede2025, and anyone else who wishes to weigh in!

I want to emphasize I am prioritizing spatial geography and some degree of fairness/starting parity between players over the
actual political/military situation of the period represented. This kind of started as a “Peloponnesian War” map for me but
really that would require spanning an even larger geographical area, so I leaned away from military reality as much and more
onto geography and (hopefully) team balance (although I admit the geography makes that challenging). If anyone wants to
see a more militarily accurate remix of this map made, I say go for it; maybe I’ll make it myself eventually.

At one point I was considering uniquely giving Athens a lander or black boat off the coast, but I think this introduces some
balance issues in terms of early game capture flexibility and blocking. I have given Athens and Sparta the advantage of
moving first and second respectively; I wanted to allow more preeminent powers to move first in their region while also
ensuring similar colors were not placed too closely together. Admittedly I am second-guessing giving any faction a comm
tower at all! I do like the idea of giving one to Sparta, but I believe their starting position is already somewhat advantageous…
I’ll make a decision about that after further testing.

Although Drake’s naval affinity makes sense for Athens (Corinth too perhaps), global damage (like Drake’s) is
disproportionately strong on a large FFA. I wonder how strong Jess actually is on this map. Frankly I think indirects are
overpowered here due to the terrain, but hey, Greece is really mountainous. I think infantry combat will be important.

Pretty nice map. I like how some of the infantry start away from their HQs. It's a nice, small concession which slightly boosts
base-caps, vision, and flexibility (Ostensibly, anyway.)

My one critique is that I think the southern islands (Melos and Delos?) should have a factory so they can contend with the fact
that Argos and Sparta will basically never be able to capture that Northern com-tower so the investment of capturing those
islands should be more rewarding. I'd also like to see those islands more padded-out with more beach tiles so they could
actually be contested instead of just captured and forgotten. As you know, the Peloponnesian War was a decisively naval war,
so coastal properties should be the focus.
