Not dynamic.

It's possible for P1 to interrupt P2's second captured base, but it's a coin flip because P1 doesn't know which base P2 tried to capture first. Even with the earliest tank possible, P2 won't be able to take their base for at least 6 days after P1.

This same cheese might be possible for P2 as well, which leads to another silly coin flip where if both interrupt on the same side, P2 loses again because their central road tile is already occupied, and P1 can still interrupt the base capture.

Also P1 starts with a free mech? I know it's slower and can't capture as quickly, but it fails to do anything about the recon cheese as the recon can just shoot the mech first.

I think the central road tiles 10,7 and 20,7 have to be plains to prevent the day 3 recon from gaining vision on the enemy base. Unfortunately, even with that change the map is pretty uninteresting to fight on. Rotations will take far too long even for tanks to fight for all 4 corners of the map, tons of roads lead to exposed units with no way to properly wall or use tactical positioning, and the HQ in the center is likely never to be captured until the base is taken down. Too many properties are far back and away from proper reinforcement lines from both sides, but impossibly far away from the aggressor.

@ForgotToShoot

P2 can counter P1's early recon with a day 3 recon of their own. P2 can reveal the P1 recon using the infantry on the
mountain while headed towards capturing their base, and the P2 recon then can make first strike on the P1 recon. If P1
chooses to attack the infantry from that point forward then they can delay the base capture by a half-turn, up to a full-turn (CO
dependent). Another result is that P1 will have to hide their 1-2HP recon in the forests, and P2 will have an 8HP recon to muck
about.

Recons built early game from the outside bases are super effective to delay the capture of the cities on the outskirts of the
map. There's lots of forests for recons to mess around in, and it might force your opponent to pull a tank which opens up an
opportunity to capture the comm tower.

I think the HQ rush is threatening throughout the entire game.

There's a reason half the players in the tournament underpicked Sami in T3 fog. It might be the same reason half of the players dropped from the tournament. I did because I saw the recon cheese, which is a coin flip on its effectiveness. P2 also has to build their recon before they see the recon from P1 to even try to neutralize the threat, but doesn't have the same opportunity if P1 moves the recon towards their second captured base. Not to mention the injured infantry will capture even slower, pushing the early economy even farther in P1s favor.

P2 is also forced to build the recon even if P1 doesn't because of the threat arriving before vision does. It feels like rock paper1 paper2 where P2 can instantly lose the game if they choose rock or go evenish if they choose paper.

In this tournament there have been 4/32 people who dropped out.

Sami is a very strong CO pick, and she's probably the best at handling a P1 recon rush. If you build only infantry as P1 or P2
then you are flipping a coin. P2 is ahead with respect to economy if left untouched. P1 needs to slow down the capture phase
in order to equalize, so the injured capturing infantry actually helps equalize the economy between both players.

It sounds like you're not enjoying the gameplay of this map, so if you wanted to exit the tournament then that's just fine.
wilkyb2 (08/08/2024 08:00pm):
I see in the game replay that you & your opponent decided upon a draw on turn 5. In the game chat I see that you & your
opponent don't want to participate in this tournament anymore, so I am going to forfeit both of you from the challonge bracket.
