The weak side is a bit fun, but for it to work it needs to be ~1 turn away dropoff from the base, otherwise it'll be completely overrun.

Also a note for fog, in general you don't want forests within arty range of eachother and contested mountains since it's known to cause issues. There are maps with exceptions, but you have to be careful.
