I think Diet HF creates too many potential RPS issues in Fog. In HFOG you at least have enough money to always react to what your opponent is doing, but in Diet HF that's not the case once you've spent the money that has accumulated during the first few turns. So you either have to gamble with unit builds or save up money until you've seen what the opponent has built.
