I love the concept, but the execution needs work. As it stands right now, Germany and Italy are doomed to fail if France has any concept of defensive fighting. France just needs to outlast the initial burst of German aggression and then it's an automatic Allied win. There is a reason the board game was set in 1942-1943, and it has to do with Russia. If Russia is allowed to build up for a few turns they can press into Germany and force a win pretty quickly. Which means Germany must defeat France within the first 2-3 turns to have any hope of victory. Or at least following historical events somewhat closely. I recommend you keep the map tiles, but accelerate the time frame. Start the game just before the battle of Stalingrad, and with the US ready to start Operation Torch in North Africa. Alternatively start the game just before Operation Barbarossa kicks off. There are some smaller national armies you could add for flavor if you want but I like the idea of limiting players. The more you add the higher odds someone will drop. I wish there was a way to keep Russia out of the fight but prevent Germany from auto invading those territories. However without a group of friends playing on an honor system there's no way. |

Inspired by the boardgame "Axis&Allies Europe 1940" Axies: Germany (Green Earth) Italy (Jade Sun) Allies: USA (Orange Star) Soviet Union (Blue Moon) United Kingdom (Red Fire) France (Purple Lightning) Axies and Allies respectively should form a Team together for the map to work as intended. Recommended settings should be used. Best CO's I did find to use so far, for each country: Germany -> Jess, for strong Tanks and unlimited fuel for submarines and aircraft. Alternatively Adder. Russia -> Many CO's I think would work very well. Sami, Lash, Nell, Jess, Jake, Adder, Max... Really is preference. France -> Highly recommend Andy or jake. UK -> Also Andy for the naval and air battles. But also Grimm is very powerful if used right. USA -> Anything works besides Jess & Lash(?) Italy -> Would stay away from Max, Sami, Lash & Jess. Besides that, anything might work. Andy or Adder probably the best. However, when in doubt just pick Adder, Andy or Nell for any faction. And as always playing with global damage powers, Stealths/BlackBombs is not recommended. |

@Unggoy Slaya I think the map is quite balanced and france always should fall, against the combined forces of the axies. Making the axies a little bit stronger, Germany in particular, might turn the tides to much into their favor. Realistically speaking Germany should always come out of the early game with 1 additional commtower, base and airport + a bunch of harbors, with good chances to take another base from the russians. It is tricky to play germany, to find the right balance and work together with Italy, but I think it is still possible to pull off a victory. In my eyes germany is strong enough, with the right CO. Don't forget that Germany get's the most charge and can use it's power way more often, because it get's more money and fights against multiple enemies. Wich means power-charge isn't split, like it is for the forces fighting germany. If anything, I would give Italy an additional base or/and let Germany start with their airport captured. Further, the map is called "Axis and Allies: Europe 1940" not "Axis and Allies: Europe 1942". It's inspired by the same named board game. Was not intended to be historically accurate or anything. Maybe I make a 1941+ map at some point. But I wanted this to be the 1940 map. In the end, I want to say, maybe you are right and the game is to much in favor of the allies. But I will wait and see until players have figured out map before changing something. One more thing: Thanks for your comment and playing the map :) |

@Adept999 I think the map is Perfectly balanced as It is. Making Germany or Italy too strong will make it very bad for the Allies because - 1. They have to coordinate a lot more 2. The Allied major powers will take a lot of time to even reach the Axis particularly America, and the Axis could finish off weak France and maybe even UK on the mainland in that timeframe and secure Africa. Anyway thanks for reading my post! |

- WW2 - Battlecopters and missile systems I'm no expert but I think something's out of place here le mao |

Cadeor (08/06/2025 08:12am):
I suppose you could imagine bcopters to be fighter-bombers of the era like stukas or il-2's, etc., whereas fighters would be true fighters like bf-109, (early) spitfires, etc. as for the missile systems, i suppose you could similarly imagine them to basically be like 88mm flak, while the AA would be more like LMGs |
