Tried a different take on the FTA balance. OS & BM get a damaged infantry, GE & YC get 5hp copters, BH & BD get to start with one safe city captured, AB & CI get the city, as well as the option for an additional safe city or additional starting infantry. Each player gets the option of choosing the 5 safe cities + COM tower or to use the second infantry as an additional starting infantry via copter. Which ever player chooses before the other leaves the potential for the other player to choose a different starting advantage. While later players get the benefit of having more starting funds allowing them to at least focus on defense. |

Interesting idea. I don't think I'd forfeit 5k more starting income and a guaranteed comm tower in favor of one extra starting infantry. I also don't think 5hp copters is much of a drawback when there are airports in the map and starting infantry don't usually settle near enemies. |

There's the thing where Tcopter will take at the least 6 turns to drop the extra infantry on land unless playing Sammy or Sensei, by that time they might as well use their first infantry for the copter as there's only 1 spot with a base within 3 squares of another Cobalt and Amber have the option to have two infantry ready for copter while the third takes the safe area with the tower, those lone cities at the corner are of no use |
