For fog and TheFineMelody. This map is themed like RPG games, where your units are initially weak and can only enter the low level zone. As you unlock the route and power-up (breaking seam and capturing comtower + airport), you start to enter the midlevel zone (the silo area) and the high level zone (the mountain area) while the mobs (the 1b side) start to retreat further into the high level zone. While the map has ABAB tank order, the funding curve is fine and you want to open Recon first to prevent adventurers from trying to get early loots when tank can't reach the area fast enough. The mountain area also lets you see early recon to avoid rps. |

Tank order seems to be BAAB though, at least if both players go for fastest income (which is maybe somewhat unlikely here). The concept is cool I think, but IMO the map unfortunately doesn't offer all that much variety. Movement is constrained at the start - I get that it's on purpose, but having to either send vehicles to the middle or having to get an Arty (or multiple Arties maybe) with somewhat late payoff doesn't make for very great gameplay I think. Either way, your start will be very slow and to some degree telegraphed for the opponent - if you build the Arty(s), your opponent will know since they see the seams taking damage and if nothing wiggles, you probably have other vehicles. Mechspamming and maybe bringing one or two AAs and Recons might be an alternative strategy, but that is not exciting either tbh as it's also very slow. Either way, the options for the 2b look a bit limited to me - also partly due to the fact that the order in which you can unlock the seams is mostly fixed, so there's not much choice there either. Frontshifting also is quite slow due to the horizontal size of the map. Normally I would also say that all the contested mountains are problematic, but here it is a foregone conclusion that the 1b1a will be overpowered sooner or later so I don't think it matters much all things considered. Hypothethically, if the 1b1as really trade, then this map is going to stall since you would have just the 2 contested cities in the center + maybe the Com Towers and that's it. |
