Author's Note: A redesign of the wrap-around globe effect based on Narts' original [https://awbw.amarriner.com/prevmaps.php? maps_id=21656] with continent shaping and property placement ideas cribbed from benbever/tayzzer using the latest 50x50 map size limit. By comparison to that original design... - The lengths of the warping edges for the Pacific have been greatly increased - The polar warps have been adjusted; Antarctica can now be "sailed around", and there are a few limited naval routes through the Arctic ice pack - The Americas are the same width but stretched vertically to look long and skinny, filling out the greater x-axis length - Fewer properties overall and minus 1 factory in North America; OS always had a distinct funds & base advantage IMO - The Andes now feel more like the ridiculously long "spine of the world" they are; the Amazon, its rainforest, and its delta are real geographic barriers; GEs capital has been moved south to the area of Buenos Aires with easier access to an airport - Africa has been scaled up by about 40%; Lake Victoria, the Nile and Congo Rivers, & the Great Rift Valley all feel like real geographic features; BD now has easier access to an airport and earlier access to central Africa to compensate for the increased scale - I really like the Cairo to Cape Town road I was able to work in =) - The destroyed pipe-seam tiles visually represent desert terrain, but make no difference to gameplay - Suez and Panama are on the board; so are the Dardanelles/Constantinople and Iceland; the straits that separate the north and south big islands of both Japan and New Zealand are worked in as port tiles - Europe is stretched vertically with emphasis on representing Scandinavia; RF is now able to secure the Middle East much faster, making the Med "Mare Nostrum" for RF; BM is intended to easily gain control of western Russia early on, but not so strongly that RF is in serious danger of being overrun within the first 10 turns (this might be nerfing BM too much...) - Asia is now HUGE (as it should be), but this puts BM and YC in awkward positions re: RF and BD; widening Asia has also made the Indian Ocean a much larger obstacle to both YC and BD; the vast central Asian steppes and deserts with the various intervening mountain ranges would push any serious conflicts between BM and RF to the mid-game except for the BM factory in the Urals and the Trans-Siberian "Railroad" that could allow BM to make pushing westward an early priority; I'm not sure where the traditional 3-way war over the Middle East gets pushed to now that (1) RF has the decisive early game control and (2) the distances between the Middle East and BDs base in central Africa and YCs base in India have been increased... only playtesting will tell - Getting Oceania to start looking and feeling right took longer than I expected; the property locations and allocations were a weird balancing act between making YC the obvious favorite through sheer funds and geographic determinism or nerfing YC into the ground... a single property more or less could tip that scale IMO; the properties on Kanga Island proper are based more on the real locations of Australia's major cities than any other map I've seen; the YC base in Southeast Asia is retained for now, but playtesting may still lead me to revise that (should YC have presumptive early control of India?); the Philippines and Taiwan exist now; the Indonesian island chain feels more like an actual strategic road block in all four directions rather than just free income - Every player's third factory is two infantry moves away from a starting factory - Every player's first airport is either two or three infantry moves away from the same - Every player has a comm tower intended to be "theirs" usually four infantry moves away, or one T-copter shuttle trip away - There's a seventh comm tower in the heart of Asia to keep things interesting - Overall, this map feels like it has three distinct North-South "lanes" of early conflict: OS vs GE in the Americas just like the original map; RF vs BD clashing in North Africa rather than the Middle East; and BM vs YC in East Asia where Japan is firmly in BMs starting sphere of control rather than being within easy reach of an early YC blackboat - Attacking and defending an East-West axis now feels like a mid-game strategic consideration rather than being subject to an early-game scramble to form alliances *Playtesting is now underway. Revisions are strongly anticipated. |

Brother... you ain't kiddin'. **Hot-seat Playtest Notes -- Day 5 OS: 9G, 8 INF, 5 Prop (start + TX base, Norfolk port), 2 props half-capped (SEATAC airport, St Louis, Toronto), 3 props about to be capped (Atlanta, Detroit, Mexico City), no enemies in sight BM: 9G, 8 INF, 5 Prop (start + far-east base, St Pete's), 2 props half-capped (Volga-grad, Korea), 3 props about to be capped (Vladivostok, Siberian airport, Archangel), no enemies in sight (but RF has INF capping K-berg); BIG NOTE: BM is able to reach a point where they could see K-berg instead of starting to cap St Pete's. If RF doesn't start capping K-berg on Day 4, then BM could move to start on Day 5 and contest it, leaving St. Pete's to be capped later. If RF does start capping it, then BM can fall back on capping St Pete's, putting that one day behind, or attacking K-berg, contesting it. GE: 11G, 8 INF, 7 Prop (start + Columbia base, Peru port, Rio airport, Buenos port), 4 props about to be capped (Panama, Paraguay, Chile, Bolivia), no enemies in sight YC: 9G, 8 INF, 5 props (start + Perth, Singapore), 1 prop half-capped (India base), 2 props about to be capped (Brisbane, Sydney), no enemies in sight RF: 10G, 10 INF, 6 props (start + ME base, Vienna, Spain airport), 4 props half-capped (Iran, Constantinople, K-berg, Denmark), 3 props about to be capped (Portugal, Paris, Warsaw), no enemies in sight; see BM note about potential early conflict in K-berg BD: 12G, 10 INF, 7 props (start + CentAf base, Congo airport, Zanzibar, SoAf port), 2 props half-capped (Pretoria, Rhodesia), 2 props about to be capped (Nairobi, Ivory Coast port), no enemies in sight |

**Hot-seat Playtest notes -- Day 15 General Situation: All props but 1 are capped by someone (the 1 exception would have been capped by YC by now except that I saw an opportunity for BM to do a sneaky BLKB rush to New Guinea, delaying this iteration of YC from capping both cities on the island; BM can't hold them & YC will have both capped by D-17). All 6 powers have reached the limits for what they can cap w/out making gains at another's expense. Also, all players have CO or Super CO powers saved up (some were ready to use on Day 14) w/ YC being the only exception @ about 2/3s of a CO power bar. If diplomacy hasn't be attempted by anyone up to this point, it becomes almost unavoidable now. OS: 20.2G; 33 units (22 INF, 3 RCN, 1 TC, 2 ARTY, 1 TK, 1 BLKB, 1 BC, 1 MSL, 1 RKT); less than 300 pts away from Super CO Power (Jake); 18 props (all of N America & Hawai'i); Yukon CT; primary focus is on taking Panama or Cuba; MSLs in Atlanta have the Cuban airport covered; RKTs in Mexico hold GE from advancing N and support our own move S; need to open diplomatic channels w/ BM and RF; alliance with one, the other, or both is now essential to success against GE; having resources pulled away to another front would be a disaster.
