The Battle of Teruel occurred during the Spanish Civil War, starting in the December of 1937 and continuing into February 1938, resulting in a Nationalist victory. The battle started as a Republican offensive, attempting to take the Teruel salient. While initially successful for the Republicans, mass reinforcements allowed the Francoists to retake the area lost, and push the Republicans out of the area, eventually leading to the splitting of the Republican zone.

BM - Republicans
GE - Nationalists

I recommend the following settings:
Weather: Rain (In the actual battle, there was heavy snowfall. However, to allow infantry to move on mountain tiles, I have elected to substitute it with rain. Based on playtesting, this may be changed to Random weather however.)
Funds: 1000
Fog: On
CO Powers: Off
Turn all limits off.
Ban all land units except for infantry, mechs, and APCs.

The goal of each player is to capture all the labs, representing towns/cities like properties.
The following labs are towns initially held by the Republicans, that were held by the Nationalists and the end of the battle.
(32, 16) - Perales del Afambra
(32, 24) - Peralejos
(30, 32) - Tortajada
(33, 36) - Valdecebro
The following labs are towns held by the Nationalists before and after the battle.
(29, 39) - Teruel (Teruel includes not only the lab, but the adjacent buildings and pipes)
(22, 39) - San Blas
(15, 24) - Villarquemado
During the battle, the Republicans successfully seized Teruel and San Blas, but both were retaken by the Nationalists. As far as I'm aware, no combat occurred in Villarquemado in this battle. However, for the purposes of this map, it is considered an objective, as it lies on on of the major roads leading to Teruel from Nationalist territory. I expect it is likely impossible for the Nationalists to retake Teruel should they lose it on this map. As such, I have also given it an improved garrison while allowing it to be somewhat easily encircled. Again, in the actual battle, Teruel was lost then retaken. But, should Teruel be lost, I highly doubt that the Nationalists will recover on this map.

Complete, continuous roads are major roads. Roads broken up by pipe seams represent secondary roads. Piperunners are fortified positions.
