Xaif (08/09/2005 08:16am):
Unblock the ports and it should be a good map. |

Getting rid of the airports may make for a good naval battle too, but as the map is now, air units are favoured. Also ban Grit because of choke points. |

Wont't the ports work properly as they are right now?? If so I'll change this asap. Maybe the Airports should be cut for Barracks, so that expanding the Islands isnt that fast. Thanks for your tips, I'll test them when possible ;) |

Sorry to contradict you Xaif, but actually I would disagree with your comments. Out of the 4 naval units, only landers can traverse shoal tiles (the beach-like thingys), so the other 3 naval units are stuck in the port. Actually, I like it the way it is since the presence of airports makes it nearly pointless to use any naval units other than landers. Well, perhaps a defensive battleship, but there're better ways to use your money. Anyways, if you leave the airports, Grit actually is going to have some trouble dealing with all those easily produced air units. Great map as it is. You may want to consider changing the forests on the central islands into cities to make the islands more useful. In fact, consider doing the same thing to the corner islands as well. This way, each island is more valuable. Also consider a few reefs so that landers can sneak around during FOW. Make sure the reefs are within a lander's movement range (6 spaces - technically 5 since reefs have a movement cost of 2) of each other. Good job thus far and good luck with your future edits. |
