Well, I didn't see any map adapted from Diplomacy, so I made one :-) It should be played in FFA. Some players probably have a better position than others, but this can be compensated by diplomacy. Funds may be set higher than normal to make an early expansion easier. |

RF is the only country that can start capturing property right away, the bottom island, can only be capturined via air. which, there don't look like any airports for T-copters. Orange Star is missing a base. which i smade up since YC gets an extra port, not to mention a very plain looking defense point. GE doesn't get much to capture, and is safe from everything but mech rushing over the mountains, they can't move any land untis without a lander. there is nothign to do in the far north and that can be removed since theres no point to go up there. if Orange Star can ever afford two subs. and four artillary, they can't be HQ captured. 5/10, theres a lot that can be done about this. there is a base that can be expanded upon. |

Austria (RF) is one of the last to play, it is thus not a shame to allow it to start capturing right away. I put more shoals to allow black boats and landers to land essentially everywhere. England (OS) is essentially a naval power, and is weak on land on purpose. Russia (YC) gets an extra port, but will grow slowly since it has a lot of terrain to cross to reach other properties. Italy (GE) is also isolated on purpose: its greatest difficulty is to find a way to expand. (it is easier than it is for England, though). But it still has many option: mechs across the mountains, supported by artillery, or an essentially naval expansion. I do not see how England can protect itself from HQ capture with two subs and four artillery... The far north is there exclusively in order to make the map look like a Diplomacy map. It is useless and thus absolutely necessary :-) |

Hey, I made a diplomacy based map a while ago. >_> And The British Isles should be far shorter. But I doubt this is supposed to be geographical. And I'm tempted to say give Scotland/Wales a chance. But otherwise, not too shabby. |
Taz (02/02/2007 05:26pm):
I searched for maps named Diplomacy, but found only map with no connection whatsoever with the game... This is not supposed to be geographical, but to look approximately like the Diplomacy map, which is only approximatively geographical :-) |

taz Awesome! Love diplomacy! Love this map! Btw, do you ever play on Dipbounced.com? A few points: Id open up the Piedmont area so that France and Italy can go to war easier, while at the same time opening up Iberia so that France can capture that area as quickly as she can in the actual game of Diplomacy. Likewise, the mountain should be removed between Venice and trieste, to increase the tension between Italy and Austria. Add shoals in front of Holland (but not Belgium) so that it can be attacked from the North Sea. Arrange St Pete's so that the port can be used to send fleets north or south, like in the game. Otherwise Russia and England do not have too much naval interaction. the map "european diplomats" does this, but with multiple ports. to preserve the ratio to that of Diplomacy, I suggest you put seas going from both directions of the port, so Russia can send fleets into the Baltic or barents sea. Otherwise, fantastic job, hope you update it, hit me with some press when you do and we'll play a nice ol game of backstabbing ;) |

i would suggest putting a base in tripoli (just like the board game) and taking off one or two shoals off every coast, not too much tho, otherwise it'll be harder to land, and yes, just like demonhands said, you might want to open up the piedmont, trieste and the iberia, other than that, it's a pretty good map, i'll have to play on it sometime! |
qzwprospect (03/27/2008 06:35am):
I would suggest putting the cuntries where they belong, ex. britain in UK, gE in Germany, Russia IN Russia, after all, we dont want stalin plaguing the french too.. |
demonhands (04/20/2008 01:17pm):
one more suggestion. I noticed it is extremely difficult for england to expand initially, even more so that the actual game. Suggest starting england (or perhaps every country) with a lander to make expanding less predictable and more fun. that way england gets in on the action much quicker |
