I have decided to be a rebel against symmetrical maps. Here is my first map showing this.
I've thought it out, and I think it's balanced enough for both sides to have a chance. Do tell
me what to improve, though. Oh, and please show your support for these kinds of maps by
making a game on it. Thanks. =P
Nahbien (01/13/2007 09:59pm):
OS is 2 days away from one base, and 2 days from another. BM is 3 days away from the
closest and 5 days away from the second (since they have to use the same original base).
Not to mention going second might as well add another day to the total. Not worth playing
at all.
Fugue (01/13/2007 10:02pm):
BM is closer to the Airport and Lab, but even then Nahb's right. With FTA on their side as
well...
Nahbien (01/13/2007 10:21pm):
Better pictoral example. I played myself to day 5, it is now BMs turn. Tell me, do you
want to be in their position? OS has 4 bases to their almost 3, BM can't get their 4th,
Both are getting their airport/com tower in a turn, but OS is poised to get the lab also,
AND has positioning in the center and has a nice blocker to head off the BM tank.

You could balance this map out if you put OS's bases in the -back- of the HQ, instead of in
front of it. I think it would be a nice change.

Let me list the pros of both sides.

~Blue Moon~
Pros:
-Quick access to chokepoint
-NIce placed base to also have rockets fire over the river
-Nice placed airport to reinforce the river area
Strategy:
Don't surrender to OS and wait for him take advantage of his position. You actually have
what it takes to make hell for him early on, nullifying his relative closeness to bases. If you
can execute your offence better than he can fortify his defences, he's screwed.

~Orange Star~
Pros:
-First turn advantage
-Good position for fortification
-Close range of bases
Strategy:
Do your best to fortify the center. Use your best judgement to stop everything BM throws at
you and continue to capture on. Once you get a strong hold of the center, the game is in
your bag.

Nahbien's picture is a good example of a BM general who forgot to take control of the center
as part of their strategy, which I find an unsurprisingly flawed view. However, if you think
anything else is unbalanced in my map, do say it. I will consider changing it =)
