This map is intended for 2 on 2 team battles, especially OS/BM v. YC/GE. OS is at a tactical disadvantage, open on two fronts and with little access to roads outward, and BM is at a strategic advantage, behind walls, isolated, and with access to the most power. This map is by no means finished, and I'm content to take input towards making this map better. |

Something that really bothers me, aesthetically speaking, is the lack of symmetry. You should put the BM HQ between both bases and make the pipelines less crooked. But it's just me. |

OS will get crushed if BM doesn't hurry >_> |

@ Joevector: It is a bit displeasing to look at, isn't it? Maybe I'll change that around. Make the center two lanes wide entirely. As for the HQs, I wanted the BM buildings to reflect the positions of the OS buildings, and I certainly want the OS HQ where it is. I want OS to be in peril, so that BM, while safe, must help OS, so that it doesn't end up fighting a two-front war. The sum of the resources on the OS/YC/GE side of the map is greater than that of the BM side, and it would take several turns to capture it all, anyway. But since the position of BM's HQ isn't as significant, I suppose it'd look better in the middle. On second thought, I'll move both OS's and BM's HQs to the middle. It'll make things a bit more fair. @ funwes: That's the idea. =) Whoever plays BM should either haul butt to save OS, attack an enemy ASAP, or prepare for a two-front war. The two Comm stations are a bit of incentive for BM to break the protective barrier. One thing OS could do is try to capture the building in the GE leg nearest of OS. Update: Well, I straightened the pipes...and now the map's sorta phallic...well, whatever. That's not important, because I'm not a pervert, and don't think that way. =D |

I'd say to either: 1. Add cities for less of an infantry spam, or 2. Make sure that the games played on it have at least 2-3k funds per turn Although, that would bring up the possibility of BM stealths being a problem... |

Hm. Okay, I'll do that. Update: Cities added. Should reduce the chances of an infantry rush. |

Tyrael (11/13/2007 11:23pm):
Still a bit too biased toward footsoldiers. |
|
Saltpeter (11/14/2007 07:49am):
Two more cities added to each side. That should fix the footsoldier bias. |

DuelStriker (11/14/2007 04:10pm):
Teams = imbalanced, the teams should be: OS/YC vs BM/GE. |
|
Lord Doom (11/14/2007 05:09pm):
there should be breakable pipes at the end of the two roads coming out of the BM base, giving it more of a "save OS or else you lose your air power for sure" feel |
|
Saltpeter (11/14/2007 11:52pm):
I like that idea! It would further up the ante for saving OS without adding any incentive to attack BM BEFORE OS. I change. OS/YC v. BM/GE sorta defeats the purpose of the map. OS and BM make more money to start than GE or YC, and OS's position, while imperiled, still has strong natural defenses, especially in a fog of war game. A rocket unit one tile to the right of either OS base would be highly effective. Also, the FTA serves to even out some of the imbalance. I'm going to give BM two more cities. It'll allow BM to defend OS more easily. That should balance things out a little more. |
|
Lord Doom (11/15/2007 10:05pm):
The destroyable pipes at the end gives OS 2 ways of helping BM, attacking from behind and supporting directly. Much better IMO |
|
Saltpeter (11/16/2007 08:00am):
Also, OS can try to get the neutral properties now. I didn't think of that. @_@ Yes, this works much better. Although...perhaps I need to reduce OS's and BM's starting income now, because OS could easily get an infantry or two into the neutral areas before GE and YC can build up a force to assault OS. What do you think? |
