Saltpeter (11/15/2007 02:50pm):
I will definitely make a larger version of this map in the future. It's called "Rush", because the cities are owned by the CO farthest from them, thus capturing the nearest cities would reduce the funds of the enemy. At the same time, both sides own one less than half of all the properties on the map, giving them quite comfortable starting salaries, so they could opt to produce stronger units at first to beat down the infantry the enemy might be making for capturing. Lots of trees, because if I have an anything fetish AW-related, Tyrael(>_>), it's for fog of war, not silos. |

I think that recon is a bit too much for an FTA counter... |

Saltpeter (11/15/2007 03:25pm):
I dunno. Considering each side owns 14 fund properties to start, I'd say it's fair. Also, I didn't want to give BM any infantry or mechs to start, due to the nature of the map. Perhaps I should switch it to an APC? |

I think it's an OK counter, what with huge funds and all. Even though 4000/13000 isn't close to half, the rest of the cost is covered by the recon being able to move first, which might actually give BM some STA, but I think that's about as good as it's going to be. What else is he going to use for FTA counter, 2000 funds? :P I like the concept of the map, maybe make us a 4-player rush map? Oh and small symmetry mistake, there's a missing tree 1 tile down from the top neutral base, oh noes!!! BM will be harder to the hidings on dees map!! And FOW isn't fetish-able (?) because it's generally accepted as a mostly positive part of the game. I like making this stuff up, you should try it sometime. :D 8.49/10 rounded to 8 :( |

Ah! Thank you. I'll fix the symmetry error. ^_^ And the larger version will definitely be 4-player, if not more. The concept is meant for a fairly short game, and it could accomodate 5 or 6 people easily. |

Alathon (11/15/2007 05:43pm):
Great concept! Do you rush foward to get the bases or cut off your opponent's funds? I can't wait for the multi-player version! |

Tyrael (11/15/2007 07:27pm):
OK, with the symmetry fixed you now get a 8.53, rounded to 9 :) |

I don't know if a recon will be enough of an FTA counter due to this map's peculiarities, actually. OS has the advantage in terms of funds. Think about this: OS: OS builds infantry. BM: BM builds infantry. OS: Captures. BM: Captures. OS: FInishes capturing. BM: Doesn't get as much income, because OS already captured some of their properties. Finishes capturing. OS: Gets the same amount as the previous turn, probably finishes some more captures as well. BM: Gets less again. And so on... |
|
Saltpeter (11/16/2007 07:52am):
In that case, I'll change it to an AA unit. Something BM can send to harm OS early. |
|
Saltpeter (11/16/2007 02:54pm):
Update: Made two of OS's cities neutral and changed the AA unit to an infantry, as per a suggestion on the forums. |
