This is my first map. Its named after the two armies in Battalion wars series. (You may
end up seeing a few more of these.) I figured that all the action was going to be in the
middle so I put a few cities across the river just in case you want your units to heal
there or you wanna lead a secret assualt during FOW. (The forests are there to help you)
The mountains are there for FOW purposes. Oh and beforehand, I'm sorry for any symmetrical
problems.

Enjoy. =)
maq (11/20/2007 03:04am):
Not bad for a first map IMO.

Only problems that I see are:

1. It's a little bit open in places, particularly along the left-right edges and to the
right-centre of each country.

2. I would place the two bases out near the edges, or one base in the centre (for each
country) and airports on the sides (but out of Fighter-range of each other).

3. It's a little bland with not many twists and turns, but so are some of my maps, you
just learn how to jazz them up with practice.
Princess Melon (11/20/2007 04:43am):
You need to move the infantry on one of the green bases.
maq (11/20/2007 05:15am):
Yes, also make the captured cities neutral and put the GE on a base.

Wait, what? Complain about open areas and complain about chokepoints? Make up your mind O_o
Saltpeter (11/20/2007 10:08am):
Open areas and chokepoints are both bad. Youcould have a map with nothing but a gigantic
plain, and then have a pipe with a single breakaway section bisecting it. Voila, both
excessive openness and a bad chokepoint.
Tyrael (11/20/2007 10:46am):
I think he got fooled by the clumps of plains in those places. Add some
mountains/forests/cities over there. Preferably cities, there's too many bases for the funds.
Since the winning strategy basically always involves making a unit on each base each turn,
the game will turn into an infantry/tank/artillery spamfest. Add many more neutral cities
and/or cut down a base per side.
All that said, it's not a bad map, especially for your first one (and you even looked up FTA,
THANK YOU for that). But as it stands, I'll give a 6/10 for now.
ShomaSan (11/20/2007 11:26am):
Ok. I fixed FTA and added more cities. I moved the neutral bases closer to the east and
west and I put more landscapes in that patch of plains. I also moved the starting bases
up too see if that helps.
DuelStriker (11/20/2007 03:23pm | Edited: 11/20/2007 03:24pm):
Looks good, I'm not so sure about the positioning of the neutral bases though.
Tyrael (11/20/2007 04:58pm):
Looks much better, and the neutral bases seem OK to me. However, there is still a bit of
FTA due to 5000 starting funds (the lower the better- make the two starting Cities neutral to
fix), and I'm thinking it's still a bit base heavy- lots and lots of units for a 20x20. Perhaps
widen the two starting bases and bring the two neutrals together in the center and make it
one base to total three?
