OMG FUNWES IS RIGHT.
blanci1 (12/19/2007 07:36pm):
A semi-natural environment perhaps in Canada, with a simple but critical choice of attack
channels each with their own advantages and disadvantages: road (dangerous bridge,
liable to blockage), water (expensive), mountains (mechs can pass quickly here), forest
(tanks slow) , desert (long route). The sparcity of central cities means theres little need for
an initial dash to the centre. Longer term strategy is the idea.

A dock..? >_> And yes, DS, I'm right. I'm almost always right.

No you're not.

PARADOX

blacni is new. He will need help designing maps. So give him some advice to help him. This is
very good for a first try. I think the road bridge needs more citys in it, too make it worth
fighting over.

ah its a jetty !

To speed up the start, and limit spamming, i ve changed a few extra cities near the HQs
from neutral to controlled, and provided half of a days income..a mech...to the 2nd player as
a balance.
In both games so far on this map the bridge was used with no playability problem.

WARNING NOT FOR NEWBIES. this map takes a while to get going, requiring some patient
building up of various task forces and planning. It is not simply spam and blast. It may be that
due to distance of supply it will be quite hard or just slow to force a win on this kind of map
even against a somewhat less experienced player. However i believe this is a more realistic
map and thats just how war is.. it wasnt easy to take jerusalem. Anyway there should be
plenty of action after about ten moves or so. Things can be speeded up more with starting
funds. In theory the 2nd player should need half a pay-day FTA counter (which on AWBW
cant be given as funds, but it can be implemented as extra units.. but that would have to be
set beforehand by map edit) . In practice i believe it wont be a big deal, you could just let the
less experienced player go first. (EG using the number of games played at AWBW to
measure this ). Another important point here which is often missed by FTA obsessionists is
the following. A first turn advantage of whatever kind must usually be converted into a
spatial plus (unless the opponents HQ or bases are super-near). If the centre has few cities
or bases then this advantage counts for little. All that happens is the point of first contact or
battle-front is moved slightly toward the 2nd player .. where this is a dynamic equilibrium due
to supply. With varied terrain there is every chance that any FTA is washed out and other
factors of strategic-choice are more important. So theres no need to worry too much.

Hey blanci!!!!
blanci1 (02/10/2015 09:32pm):
I guess this could be quite a bit wider and symmetrised with the neutral ports moved onto bridge t allow
more boat flow and put HQ somewhere more forward for CO to observe and for possibility of capture. Also
without start preowned cities and with a usual FTA infantry counter it would be a more standard type map
but retaining the idea of involving air land and sea and bridge crossing. Perhaps more front line cities
mightbe nice, though this may encourage inf rush rather than building a combined task force before
advancing?
