Tyrael (01/08/2008 07:36pm | Edited: 01/08/2008 07:59pm):
Ok, my tournament map. Hopefully it's small enough to actually finish, but large enough to still be interesting. Ban the broken 5, Sami, and all mass damage COs like Strum, Hawke, etc. Sasha too, because she does mass damage to everyone's COP bars. No lab units. RULES- First player to capture all 5 labs in the center is the winner! (no lab units, they're just there to determine winner) You can't break the pipeseams leading into the next section until your opponent is DEAD, either by HQ capture or by rout. Now the complicated part- pay attention. Assume that I or the player is OS. The first player to get done with their own section may only break pipeseams in one direction from their corner. Say that I beat BM- I can break into the area either to the North or to the East. The direction I choose will determine who i fight next- If I picked North (indicated by me breaking the pipeseam North of my area), my next opponent would be the winner of RF/BH. If BH wins, they must break their Southern pipeseams to meet me in the "semifinals". The winner of GE/YC must also go North to fight AB/PC because my "semifinal match" is with BH. So the first to win their area chooses the bracket to be followed. In this example, the Northern and Southern sections wouldn't be used at all. Then of course the winner of OS/BH breaks into the center and starts capturing everything. If they can capture the five labs before YC/GE/AB/PC are done with their semifinal match because they're just awesome, they win without even fighting a finals match. If YC/GE/AB/PC gets to the center before OS is done, then they fight it out. First to capture the five labs win- you don't need to rout the final enemy. This allows for some strategic options for the first to finish. Say I'm OS again and I beat BM and now must choose which way to go- North or East. So I look at the other ongoing battles- YC has GE in a tight spot and will probably win in a couple of turns. BH and RF, on the other hand, are locked in a stalemate. Because I'm done first, I have the advantage of choosing my next opponent. (Figure out which way to go yourself- I'm not giving away ALL my secrets!) If OS goes North, YC/GE must also go North so OS doesn't have to fight two opponents at once. The area between OS/BM and YC/GE will go unused for the ENTIRE GAME. Same with the other way- If OS goes East, then RF/BH must go east as well, and the area between them will go unused FOR THE ENTIRE GAME. Like all tourney maps, this one requires honest participants to work. But that's a flaw with all tourney-style maps, not just mine. I might steal the gatekeeper idea from someone else and see if that works better than pipeseams. |

Yes, really. I've learned to reserve my first comment. I forget on occasion, and there's always that dang DS above the Tyrael in the comments. Update- OS now gets 3k funds to BM's infantry. |
