Actually, the map is just one big rectangle.

Or maybe it's 392 squares, and each unit/city/forest/etc takes up 4 at a time?

Hmm, in practice it has turned out that capturing the enemy HQ is easier than on most
maps, which is fine with me. More ratings please!
