Great map for planes, stock up on AAs, missiles, and fighters if you even want a chance at winning. |

For a first map, this isn't that bad. First Turn advantage can be countered by teams, although it's present in FFAs. Couple things, though: 1) Too. Many. Mountains. Though you did a great job with terrain variety, terrain PLACEMENT is slightly problematic. The mountains cause giant chokepoints, and as a result the map will be very indirect-friendly. It's probably be a good idea to thin out the moutains. 2) There are too many production facilities. Four bases and two airports per team is a LOT, and the map doesn't really have the funds to support it. 3) OS and BM are almost guaranteed both side Comm Towers closest to them in a Free For All situation. All they need to do is forgo capturing the neutral bases, make an infantry/APC, and rush the towers. The APC can easily block the one-space choke, and by the time it's busted, the Comm Tower will already be captured. It's still pretty good for a first map, though I might suggest trying to make some 1v1s before you work on 3/4 player maps, as the latter are a lot harder. Also: if you want some mapmaking references, here are some good links: Intro to Mapping 101: http://www.amarriner.com/awbw_forum/viewtopic.php?t=9187 FTA Explanation (with pictures): http://www.amarriner.com/awbw_forum/viewtopic.php?t=8518 Hope this all helps! |

Well, you see, I had to have this many mountains in order for Aircraft to be the dominant unit here, ya know? It's impossible for a missle unit to just sit on a base and spam the airports, so that's out of the question. A bomber, or even a black bomb, could weaken it all hugely. That's also why I have so many cities on the map. Mechs can also do some serious damage when paired up with them, considering they're the only *effective* unit that can cross mountains. Also, I gave 4 bases to each side because that's simply what I was used to in AW (insert suffix here). Also, that makes for competition. A single tank could end up thwarting it if done right. It might end up making for a huge fight for either airport on those sides. The mountains and rivers cause movement challenges, so it's rather difficult to get to them quickly. |

Actually, simply having airports on a map makes air units desirable. Matches are won with infantry and artillery, not bombers and copters, although those units obviously support or break art/inf. You needn't have so many mountains to encourage air unit use, just put more funds so that fighters and stealths are more feasible. |

As a player who believes air units are the best out of the three types of units, i believe this map is not only a challenge, but also fun to play for players such as myself to use air units. 8/10. |
