Non-symetrical maps do correspond to real war situations and are to be aplauded ! However i wouldnt fancy cobalt ice(blue) here , firstly: as black can just trundle down and capture that center factory easily and then its curtains. One simple way to give cobalt a chance would be to put the factory the other side of that mountain /forest clump AND either give blue a lander, or have ample initial funds(eg. 30,000). Youve gotta allow bue to get a foothold-(that factory) on the mainland otherwise he s got no chance. You could just make the factory blue...but clearly that would go against the original idea of the map. |

I played a game against my friend, and in a game where Cobalt goes first and has the initiative, the fight over the factory is a brutal one. Its not meant to be an easy map, Cobalt is always on the run, and the fact that Grey only has ground units and that cobalt starts off with access to both sea and air units balances out the map a little. During the course of the game against my friend, at first I captured the factory and had to defend against attacks for the first few days, afterwards, I began to take control of the cities around the northwest of the map, balancing out my funds, The problem that grey has in this situation is bringing out units that cant move on plains very well. My friend captured most of the roadside cities in no time, but had more problems with ones away from the road because they couldnt gain access there. Later in the map depending on who has control of the bottom right island, the fight could go either way. In the fight against me and my friend, I won. But it wasnt an easy fight. It was a challenge, with the right CO and the right choice of units, blue can turn the fight around. |
