Murph, you'll need an FTA Counter (First Turn Advantage Counter), as this means Orange
Star can get those Factories and Airports faster than everybody else. Maybe give
everybody else an extra Infantry?
Shadow Star (02/16/2008 05:39pm):
FTA is one of the smaller issues with this map.
The production property is far too high in ratio with the nonproduction facilities.
it's an air and infantry war.
There is no way any direct combat noninfantry land units could do anythign until one of the 8
central bases gets captured. (Since each country starts with 2 bases, and judging by the
maps total property, you could be fine with just two bases. by comparision, if you judge this
map by size, you could get rid of at least one base per country.
Considering the map size, one maybe two airports, like you have it. By the maps property,
one maybe no airports.
All your terrain is ordered.
there are no roads.
There's no FTA counter as stated above. Unlike the above comment, FTA consists of
anyone that goes before another player. meaning BM and GE have a turn advantage.
Change GE with BM first.
Then, since infantry can't capture at all on the first or second turn, it's rather moot adding
another infantry. No FTA counter would work on this map, as this map is just too pathetic in
it's current state to be much of a map.
The above statement will be withdrawn once some changes have been made to give this
the semblance of a normal map that can be played on.

Sorry... I'm kinda new with this thing... Just started...

But really theres no need to be so rude TBH... I'm not automatically a AW whizz when I join...
funwes (02/16/2008 06:19pm):
Shadow Star wasn't rude, he's just pointing out all the wrong stuff :P

"this map is just too pathetic in it's current state to be much of a map."

But no seriously... I should be thanking you for the advice... Thanks.
demonhands (02/16/2008 06:42pm):
shadow star has a way with words
Shadow Star (02/16/2008 08:18pm):
Well, it's better, it's not perfect, but most maps aren't.
I'd still suggest exchanging positions of GE and BM
Removing BM's other starting infantry.
The starting infantry that YC and GE would remain with would give them a slight advantage
due to how far out they are. (it's advised to have them on a starting base when there are
two starting bases)
Ideally property clumping should be avoided (alebeit the center) (You could jsut spread the
center 8 property out a little bit)
The two starting bases was a good thing. the problem I had with your base count was there
were too many neutral bases. i'd suggest having the two preowned bases. and only one
neutral base per country.
It's been cleaned up quite a bit, less problems now then before.
Murphzorz (02/16/2008 09:51pm):
Updated. Again... Thanks for the advice.
Murphzorz (02/16/2008 09:57pm | Edited: 02/16/2008 09:58pm):
Also. For future reference, would maps like this be better on a larger scale than 22X22?
Shadow Star (02/16/2008 10:24pm):
last thing, spread the forests out, rows of forests are bad if they're a giant line.
I'd also open the chokepoints going into the HQ areas. (one tile wide mountain chokepoints
aren't great)
Re_Vak (02/17/2008 05:40am):
Pah, screw it Murph - looks kick ass to me =D
Bern (02/17/2008 10:15am):
Yeah, not like we're playing Fog of War just yet. But if we do have a game on it with FOW
on... Yeah, you might wanna space the forests out or we could be in for some mayhem.
nerd-boy (02/17/2008 10:51am):
Where are the snakes and the plane?
Murphzorz (02/17/2008 11:18am):
Well I'll keep it in mind, to reduce the forest blockiness for FOW games...

As for teh snakez... Tehy is in teh airportz!

Murphzorz (02/17/2008 11:21am | Edited: 02/17/2008 11:22am):
The map was actually made just for personal use, I just didn't know that you could play
games on unpublished maps.

You can't, but you can publish it make a game on it, then unpublish it all over the course of a
minute.
Bern (02/17/2008 05:53pm):
Umm... Shadow Star? I'm playing games on my Unpublished Maps just now. All you have to
do is go into your Design Maps click on the map, not edit map, just the map itself, and then go
to play a game.
Murphzorz (02/20/2008 02:49pm):
*plans on doing that in the future*
