I'm not sure if the HQs will work in the middle here. You can either rush the opponent's HQ
or protect your own. Either way, you may be diverting funds away from expanding, which
may hinder you in the long run.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Edit: Added rivers and gave each country the second base. Changed a few
other things.

It somehow looks a bit plainy to me.
You could use some rivers or even shoal-circles to avoid this.

Don't know if the FTA counter will work out well against a HQ-rushing GE Inf, I'd put the
infantry 1 south or east.

This setup (1 base, 1 neutral base) also often gives STA when you're trying to cancel out
the FTA, which is very lol. So I'd suggest to give both bases to YC/GE from the beginning.
