Okay the test went well, it seems to have a couple nice features. I've been making fronts a little more open lately, so we'll see how people like that. Also when to spend the funds shipping infantry out to the islands is an important consideration, as well as which island to go to first. The game can be decided before you have time to go to both islands (especially if you're short on tanks as a result!). Anyway usual bans and so forth. Feedback welcome! |

Looks great, 10/10, i even like the silos. |

Hellraider (07/20/2008 02:39pm):
The map is great, the silos aren't. I don't think this map will see much use in leagues/ladder/ tourneys unless you remove them. And maybe one property per side on the main island would be nice too, but thats just me. |

Alright, I'm curious to try this map with airports anyway so we'll see how that goes. |

Hellraider (09/13/2008 06:56am):
After playing a game on it I'd suggest to remove the two middle woods and replace them with a road leading from one of the middle properties to the other. This would make both VB and Lash weaker as well as giving better attack possibilties and making the frontline more fluid. |

This map is pretty gay. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northstar |

Hellraider: That sounds like a good idea, I always liked maps that make it easy to shift from front to front. I'll edit it if it ever has no games running. rast: Stop posting garbage on my map comments please. |

The gameplay on this map is quite asymmetrical due to the two starting bases being in such different situations. Together with having a lot of contested cities, I wonder if this map is truly balanced. |

6/22 (27%) 16/22 (73%) Looking at the stats; 2nd player has a 73 winning percent. =/ |

Hey! I just went and re-designed this map exactly as-is on my actual Advance Wars Days of Ruin game card for my own DS, and thought I'd give it a whirl using the new DoR physics and ruleset. I played Greyfield (my favorite CO) and set the Comp. to Tabitha, set FoW to ON, gave it a shot. I was quite satisfied! I won, but it wasn't a walk in the park-- Tabby sieged my HQ at least twice and I had to be ready for it, I in turn won when I finally managed to push her back to her own HQ with support from a Greyfield-manned Battleship; I would have lost my own HQ if I hadn't taken the south Airport just in time to get a Bomber out. I noticed almost right away that this map doesn't favor directs or indirects; you'll require both or you'll be in for it. That, and the Mech Rush seems to be adequately counterable too. These are both extremely good qualities for any map. :) All in all, very balanced, even for the Days of Ruin rules! Though I have yet to try this with a human opponent... ;) I'm going to guess that Waylon might not be such a hot choice for this map, since you get Airports so late. I dunno... there's always Seaplanes? *shrugs* Oh also, since DoR uses somewhat different types of tiles, in place of all the Used Silo tiles on this map I put a Ruins tile. It had the same effect and it was perfect-- so perfect, that it even made it so a player can't Capture their neutral Factory right away with a Bike. The Ruins tile slows Bike movement just enough to make it wait the extra turn as intended. Freaking awesome. I'm rating this a 10. :D I'll be sure to leave a second comment once I try this with a human rival. Peace! ^_^ |

This map is simply awesome! (10/10) There are several strategic choices to be made... |

I think there can be some STA here, depending on how quickly one can move the isles, but smart play can combat that to some degree. I think this is one of those maps that No Powers would be preferable. 8/10 |

This map is in the Hall of Fame as one of the most influential standard competitive maps of its era (approx. 2007 - 2010). |
