There are plenty of "standard" maps around ... why make another? The idea of this map is to see in PRACTICE what gameplay themes and problems actually arise with "way too many bases". (comets map was pretty popular!) If anyone knows what problems will arise and why this is a bad map please explain the terrible consequences of lots of bases. Sure it will get spammed and jammed ... but will there be a way to blast through.or get around? |

Most of the reviewers are losers. Blanci is trying something different and original. Stop picking on him. |

amthc.... maybe you are right... but how can we be absolutely sure? are you just using intuition or experience, or Maybe there are some quite simple reasons for it being so.... but what are they? For example if each side has lots of bases well seperated from the enemy with an intermediate area of no-mans land and also with some defensive terrain then a big spam and jam surely would ensure (it would be good to have examples here). HOWEVER with bases all connected as it were and some centralised (usually such bases cause instability) well can we be sure... ?? ...... Anyway it could be instructive to actually see and experience what kinds of things happen at first hand. |

first test game.. no sign of jam i think ill move HQ closer to centre? and if theres any kind of jam trouble i ll put more silos ! ha ha ! ... that ll annoy a lot of trolls. |

actually all that trolling kind of made me think this map didnt work.... but then i noticed my previous comment .... which indicated NO SIGN OF JAM in first test game. I wonder if there is some problem with the theorycrafting. Or maybe my opponent missed his drawing chances. Well whatever it was certainly an interesting and action-packed battle and i d recommend giving it a try to anyone ! |

Only one test game doesn't prove anything. Edit: Also, doing all tests with fog+random weather doesn't prove much either. |

This is an 'onslaught' battle, not spam, it is a genre of awbw. |

blanci1 (01/04/2009 04:52am):
Duel really ... why stick your neck out with such definitive pronunciations ? You may well be right but thats not the only point of making this map ...... we want to explore and see for ourselves what problems actually arise in practice, if indeed they do, and also enjoy playing on a very different kind of map . |

blanci1 (01/04/2009 06:00am):
I think this map could work very differently with FOG ON or with fog OFF. If anyone fancies testing with fog OFF please do, and feel free to report findings here... maybe you get spamjammed. Personally im interested in this map with FOG ON so im playing and simultaneosly testing with Fog ON..... (im testing for spamjam not for fta ! ) SECOND GAME finished... red as kindle wiped me off ...right at the moment i thought i had it. ...9 days of total action. To really get any spamjam we d need to choose same COs and dont use misiles and so on. Needs more tests but i m beggining to think that spam doesnt always jam. Maybe with more mountains and pipes we might get jamm but theres no sight of it on this open map. |

I doubt an infantry heavy battle will last forever. After all WW1 'only' lasted 4 years. It seems illogical to me that two armies will balance each other perfectly, the inf are forced to fight over the properties which are close together. You're right blanci, the silos definately belong here. It is a key aspect of strategy on this map. |

i wonder why some ppl play with fog off anyway |

funkytown (09/30/2010 04:12pm):
I would change the COM towers to silos and the two unoccupied corners to COM towers. Other than that I think this would work as a good test map. After all you can argue spam all you want but most people are smart enough to see, "Omg 30 infantries what do I do? I know I'll save some money and build tanks on my outer factories to shut down the infantries!" Not everyone is dumb enough to fight fire with fire. |
