Category 4 of the map contest: The map must be notably asymmetrical, but remain fair. This map is my attempt at making a map without symetry and close to being fair. ***Steath and Black Bomb must be banned |
amthc356 (01/15/2009 09:02pm | Edited: 01/15/2009 09:06pm):
this is diagonally symmetric... |
Nyvelion (01/15/2009 10:47pm):
I think he means it's not symmetric between the two players, which actually is an annoying problem that most maps have. |
Ducky (01/15/2009 11:00pm):
is airport for ballence? |
PCJedi (01/15/2009 11:20pm):
This looks like it still has FTA. Give Purple Lighting a starting infantry, then it'll be good, though I already think it looks pretty decent. |

Ducky (01/15/2009 10:00pm): "is airport for balance?" Yes. Cobalt only has 2 bases to defend his capital, while Purple can use all 4 four to defend his capital. I think the extra units from Cobalt being the first player and the airport (black bomb and stealth being banned) make-up for this advantage of Purple's position. PCJedi I am not sure if an infantry is the best counter. Purple can capture the 3 cities on the 2nd day and Cobalt can only capture 1 city on the 2nd day, so I am not sure if Purple should get an infantry... Though, I may edit it after playing on the map; currently I am playing on it, and I think the airport is a bit much. I think I will make the airport a city. |
Kruegstr (01/29/2009 06:20pm):
I have removed the airport and have given purple 1 infantry. The airport was too much of an advantage. |
Harti1990 (03/09/2009 05:26am):
It's possible to rush either lone CI base with the unit power from 3-4 bases. This makes the map only slightly asymmetrical but notably unfair. It should be the other way around. |

Harti1990 (03/09/2009 04:26am): It's possible to rush either lone CI base with the unit power from 3-4 bases. This makes the map only slightly asymmetrical but notably unfair. It should be the other way around. I disagree. If PL only concentrates on one of the corner bases then CI will easily be able to capture the contestable cities near PL lighting’s capital. Capital>Base; CI will have a much better position to capture PL’s capital if PL sends many units away from its capital to try to take one of CI’s bases. So therefore PL should try to defend all his cities, and PL will likely be in trouble if he ONLY concentrates on rushing one of CI’s bases; I think it unfair of Harti1990 to say this map is “notably unfair”. And I don't understand what this means: "It should be the other way around." |
