Shadow Star (01/28/2009 11:37am | Edited: 01/28/2009 11:37am):
You know, I come to this site to see good maps. I'm going to respect you're map making skills by not blatantly telling you what I think is wrong with you, and go straight to improving the map. Your maps bonuses: Easily possesses enough cities to bases. There is not an excess of Com towers. There aren't more com towers than countries. Each Player starts with the same things. Now, let's talk about the problems your map possesses. First, you have too many predeployed units. Unless it's completely predeployed (no production facilities or less production facilities than the number of countries) You don't want that many units. since you start with 4 bases in total, 2 aren't questioned, if you wanted any starting units, you'd want Grey Sky and Purple Lightning to com with a single infantry each on one of their bases. Second, you have a severe FTA, or First Turn advantage, This means, that odds are, Green earth and Blue Moon are going to destroy Grey Sky and Purple Lightning because they can attack first, and can capture first. Additionally, to keep he balance, you should move Green earth into the place that Purple Lightning is, and move Purple Lightning into the place that Green earth is currently. This helps to keep the balance between countries. Third, you have too many property on this map. a map this size, considering the amount of production facilities you have, should be maxing out at about 55 property (including the production facilities) or about 34 cities + 4 HQ. Next, the property clumping looks very bad, Ideally, in any given 3X3 square, none of the property should be touching. There are exceptions, but only if they make sense. The, roads and terrain in general need to be addressed. At the moment, all of the property are clumped, and the roads are less helpful than on most maps because people can park on cities for extra defense. This problem leads to the terrain that isn't urban being neglected. Essentially the mountains and forests purpose have been almost completely nullified. For Com towers and Silo. A Com tower, does not produce funds, looks cool, and allows a player to produce Lab unis at their production facilities. Each player starts with a Lab, at the moment, making them almost useless. The labs are so far away from the combat, that they actually are completely useless. For the Silo, more than one Silo per country will lead to balancing issues, and Ideally, unless the map has a theme and needs all those extra silo, should be dropped closer to one or maybe two. Now, that, pipe in the back with all those pipe seams, leads to nowhere, and really should have been removed. Lastly, your attitude towards airob suggesting you fix your FTA was uncalled for. Perhaps since you're "not a fukin loser thats spends all day in his computer" you should leave. You obviously can't accept criticism, and the general point of releasing maps is to get criticism about your map making skills. |
