Shadow Star (11/01/2011 11:45pm):
By design, it looks as though OS and BM have a slight advantage for location. Their bases can support each other quickly and easily. I'm looking at distances, for the starting placement. OS and BM have easy access to two cities from one base, but the second base can't reach anything immediately. however, it can the reach any of it's remaining 2 cities and base the turn after. GE and YC on the other hand have access to 2 cities and the airport easily. but they really have no third city or base that they can reach without being in heavy contestion with OS and BM. Which would in general put them at a fund disadvantage despite having the airports on the map. YC and GE's bases that are surrounded by the mountains don't look very easily to protect. I'm not sure if 42 property in total is going to make the airports particularly useful. since there are 4 countries vying for it. you might, might be lucky to get 12 property. and with 3 bases per country, it's going to be hard for any air units to keep up with such a stead stream of land units. Next, OS and YC have pretty much all chokepoints between each other, the same can be said for BM and GE. If it's a team battle (OS and YC versus BM and GE) then I could understand it. spitting 21 property between a team. But, otherwise there's going to be some problems with combat. I'd also like to point out that 12 bases is a lot for a map that's this size (it's a lot smaller than the map dimensions appear because of all of the rivers and sea tiles. |

You should have mentioned that before I commented. my comment would have been very different. |

My bad. Haven't made a new map in years. |

Yeah, usually you comment before publishing... before reading that, I thought it was OS+GE vs. BM vs. YC |
