Give both countries a second starting base. Remove the Labs. More than 1 com tower per country is actually a bit extreme. Widen the terrain a bit, you have Chokepoints, all of two. for combat Make sure that airports are farther away than the flight of a fighter. (your map probably only needs 1 airport per side and 3 bases anyways. |

I removed the labs in the "laboratory" and the com tower at the base I changed the "laboratory" a bit; now there is some more space and the distance between the airports should be ok 2 more questions why a second base? and what is the problem if there are 4 com towers on a small map? =) |
blozzee (03/12/2012 02:34am):
because there's fta by nature if played only 1 starting base in the game |

Isn't it a second turn advantage now? :/ |

Labs are a building type. If you look to the east side of the map. the little property with a radar dish, that's the Lab. WHen captured it generates 0 funds, and allows countries to use Lab units. This issue is that the labs are not very contested. A second base is necessary to enable that starting infantry to act as a half turn advantage. this is key to keep both countries equal. Instead of player 1 always going first in everything (first to capture, first to generate extra fudns, first to build more units, first to place units in strategic positions, first to break pipe seams, first to capture labs, first to capture com towers, usually first to attack, and if both players are equal skilled, first player to win) it instead gives the second player a half turn's production. So instead of the turn order being 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4. it's .5 start, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5. In this, the turn advantage that the first player has is nominalized to being a lot less extreme. Many beginning players either don't understand this and give Second Turn Advantage (by giving the second country an overcompensation, or by not understanding it and thinking that there is no such thing as fta on maps) FTA should be equalized by either having a starting city that is 1 day away from capturing from 1 of the 2 starting bases, or by giving the second player a starting infantry on half of their bases. (do not round for odd numbers, odd numbered starting bases on maps gets a little trickier. |

I find it hilarious that there are no labs on this map. |
