This map has so much potential. Like, Blood on My Hands potential. Keep up the good work. It
needs 3 bases and I'm currently staring at it thinking about where the neutral base needs to be.

Or maybe it doesn't, idk. Ima go get people who know what they're talking about.

It's definitely difficult to reach the HQs right now because of how narrow it is. Would be
good if it was opened up a bit more, especially the center. Funding right now is also
pretty low (only about 15k total for each side)
Mori2 (04/15/2012 03:35pm | Edited: 04/15/2012 03:48pm):
I'm very much a fan of the narrowness. Breakable seams on pipe directly across from HQs
north and south could be nice. Better yet, open up two more 1 or 2 tile chokes in the pipes at
those locations (and get rid of the mountain tile), giving you four 1-2 tile paths through center
island in total. I just don't want a bunch of wide fronts in the center in general. The left and
right side fronts could be widened by like, 1 tile with some shoals in specific areas I guess,
but the rest of the chokes on the side fronts are nice strategic locations and shouldn't be too
much of an issue, especially since the airport is so close to those side fronts.

I don't see why the middle has to be opened up too much when overrunning the sides is the
more likely win scenario. Opening the center too much would make it very hard to ever
cover the side fronts, or even get around to capping the airport, since it would make HQ
rushing much more viable. The HQ-centric bases can be camped with artillery from the
sides, by the way. It takes 3 turns for that arty to get to the tile it would need to be at, but it's
a thought. And as DS said, it could use a few more properties in total.

And overall great terraining. DS is right, it could be opened up a bit. Just don't open it up too
much.

This was my first thought, too. But I would just put broken pipe seams in, and get rid of the
mountains directly behind it. Shouldn't make the HQs too exposed, but offers another route
besides the single 1-tile choke that's there now.

My other thought is to change the city 2N, 2W of the upper left BM base to a neutral port (and
same for OS in the SE), and then add a preowned lander on the port.

I do really like the map -- dunno about Blood on my Hands potential, but it should do pretty
well. The only real potential problem is the narrowness. BomH gets around this by having the
airports in such amazing positions, and the airports are pretty far back here, so I don't know
exactly how well it will work.
Mori2 (04/15/2012 04:55pm):
Oh of course, I'm just pointing out that it gives off a vibe similar to that map.
walkerboh01 (04/15/2012 07:28pm):
Well I notice that the airports have now been moved and the pipes have been broken. =)
Mori2 (04/15/2012 08:07pm):
Yeah, I've been skyping with Kat.
Kataiser (04/18/2012 01:02pm):
OK WELP.
This is the first comment I've made. That's kinda sad. I should've said something before and I just kinda forgot.

OK. So.
20K funding per side, which I think I'm OK with here. I was initially planning to eventually build up 22K per side,
but that's pushing it I think. Specific cities are debatably movable to better locations, but I am OK with the overall
positions. Some plains may become forests in the future, but only about 4-6. Current airport placement is also a
bit wonky, I think. It'll make for some cool late-game action, but I debated putting them on the left and right flanks
too, close to the middle of the sides.

So, indecision leads to maps.

As much as Mori says I am awesome, he's overstating it slightly. Blood on my Hands is kinda better a lot. But
hey, I'm open to people calling me awesome. :D
Mori2 (04/23/2012 03:03pm):
I just like to overly encourage new mappers. It's less harmful than ignoring them, since we
potentially get more amazing mappers down the line.
walkerboh01 (05/26/2012 06:22pm):
This kind of set up has potential, though I don't think it quite realizes it on this particular map.
Mori's right though, with a bit of practice and more experience you can easily make something of
the quality of Blood on my Hands. Go look at mori's first few maps if you don't believe me. =)

7/10
