YC needs to be bumped one space closer to the bases. YC can't start capturing the
deployment bases till day 2, while OS, BM and GE can begin capturing on day one. The sea
looks really empty, and I'm not understanding the setup here.
Lord Viceny (07/16/2012 10:24am):
Okay, I shifted YC on space closer (did I do it in the right direction?). I definitely agree that
they needed to be moved, I didn't realize that when I designed it. The sea is a tad empty, but I
want to wait to work on that until I play through a game I'm running it in to test it. I don't
exactly get what you meant by 'not understanding the setup'. Clarify?
DJ-Moogle (07/16/2012 01:54pm):
Oh yup, that's better. By setup I mean if there's team play involved.
Lord Viceny (07/16/2012 05:22pm):
As teams, I suggest OS+YC vs. GE+BM vs. RF+PL vs. GS+BH. But really, any OS/YC/GE/BM
alliance set up is variable, as they're on about equal footing. I'd pair Black Hole/Purple
Lightning, who are kind of the 'superpowers' on this map with Grey Sky/Red Fire.
Necessary statistics for setting up a team match, though, are that Black Hole has a vast
advantage monetarily, and should be on a weaker team, while Grey Sky (and Red Fire, to
some extend) starts at a general disadvantage, and should be paired with someone
stronger. Purple Lightning, Red Fire, and Black Hole are going to build up strength fast (due
to dual Comm Towers within easy reach of all three), but PL and RF both have limiting
factors - PL has an extremely awkward terrain lay, while RF has little on-land space for
units and is surrounded on all sides. Meanwhile, OS/GE and BM/YC will see the first action
unless allied, as they are the only four nations that touch land-wise.
So team-wise, I'd usually play it my suggested way for a 4-team match, but those notes are
my take on how to even out teams.
So, in the end:
4-team:
OS*+YC*/GE*+BM*/PL+RF/GS+BH
3-team (really? That's not great on this map.):
BH+GS/PL+RF/OS+GE+BM+YC
2-team:
BH+GS+OS*+GE*/PL+RF+BM*+YC*

Hate to say it, but I doubt BH, GS, and PL are going to play any role in battles on this map,
regardless of the teams.
