Okay so obviously this is an attempt at an asymmetric/"realistic" terrain style map. Along with that comes
just about every balance issue you can imagine (which is why people usually don't like them) Anyway, I
tried my best to balance it for now but I'm sure its not perfect, maybe not even close. I think if nothing
else GE is able to expand a lot faster than BM but I was honestly too lazy to try and fix it right now
considering I just spend like 2 hours on this and I want dinner.

I thought I'd publish this work in progress so other people can complain about it and I can try to fix
everything all at once. I'm aware this opens the door for just about everyone in the world to bash it, but
hey, go for it. Just please try and be constructive if you think this map has any hope lol.

That said I'm really happy with how it turned out aesthetically and I love the way its set up for multiple
unique fronts. I also really love the tech-up on this map (thats the word right?)

rotflmfao. No, I'm only joking. I love the map. I'm a big fan of asymmetrical maps.

1. I think you have to give blue a city near green's infantry to negate any fta or sta best
possible.

2. The river squares in near blue's base is a little ugly. I would make them the curved ones,
etc instead of the 4-way ones.

3. Love the several fronts

4. In the northeast it looks easier for blue to hide units (indirects) whereas green has to take
more risk getting units there (less trees in the path)

5. It's cool how youycant capture seaports and towers till later in the game because the
airports are so far away. I like that. You might want to consider giving each player an apc so
the sea battle starts sooner.

6. Looks fair to me besides the sta. I would just count the cities near each base to make sure
its reasonably equal. Otherwise I see no major problems.

7. Oh, maybe put more shoal on the southeast corner near blue's base considering there is
shoal near green's???

8. It might make things intresting putting a seaport somewhere in the middle, that can be easily
attacked by rockets in trees. Like, maybe put the seaport on the mainland coast and put three
trees in rocket distance from it from the island, maybe some trees on mainland too.

I really like it. 10/10.... even considering the sta. I think with a big map like this and no neutral
bases being fought for its not a huge factor. (This comment will get more complaints than
your asymmetrical map. lol)

Lol I was really confused when I first read your comment. I was like, wait, what? This
doesn't sound like him at all. Then I got it and it made sense. I so smarts.

1, 2, 4, and 6 I will consider when I go back through and fix the map. I'm not sure about
1, but I know something has to be done to better balance it.

7 I have one on the spot diagonally NW of BM's base. I may or may not add more. I would
agree with 8 but it messes with the mechanic of needing the airport to get a port. It may
cause a rush to the center rather than a slow build up with more strategic spending. I
also don't want to add in an APC because it will enhance any FTA/STA problems I think.

lol is it sad that I almost believe you? ... and sure this is an azeotrope, imagine the
map as a boiling mixture of liquids GE and BM. For each army, the distance from their
respective HQs (weighted by number/value of units) represents their vapor fraction. They
(theoretically) will hit about a 50/50 azeotrope which can be broken by increasing
pressure on the enemy forces (its like pressure swing!) to break the azeotrope and
concentrate one's own "species" in the vapor phase. Although breaking the azeotrope with a
third component doesn't play out well in AWBW, most any map could work with this analogy.

This is how my brain works.

An infantry or a city can be used to counter FTA, but when you have both you've just
negated the fta counter (on most maps). He's right about the rivers though. fix up the rivers
a bit, try and get as many tiles to sync up as possible. For the shoal issue, just put a few
more near the bottom, opens up the chance of a lander invasion. I'm a little sad about
rockets on this map. I'm liking how you've found a way to remove requiring a second airport
to counter Stealthlock, by placing them in a way where losing your airport is probably a sign
of losing. I'd sort of like the neutral bases to be a little further away from the neutral airport.
and I'd like Blue Moon's ability to get ground units to the main front to be opened up just a
little. While they have a better defense in the waning turns of a game, the limited mobility that
they have imposed on them might hinder balance. Potentially changing up BM's base
placement (swapping a starting base with a neutral city) might counteract that, but I'd still
want to suggest looking into perhaps giving another path since 2 of the 3 bases BM is going
to get are somewhat choked for getting units to the front line. As a nonsymmetrical map, it
looks to be relatively balanced, Have you counted turns required to capture the neutral
airport and neutral base for each respective team?

The last thing I think I should ask is what your thoughts were on banned units or CO's
(obviously the core 5 COs are likely to be banned due to their ability to overwhelm the
opponents quickly and efficiently) but what about other CO, or specific units that unbalance
the map?

Thanks for all the input SS! On some of what you said:

I'll definitely open up BM's side some because it is pretty hard to get from the base to
the center. The reason its set up that way is because all the shoals provide extra
movement, but I'll just open it up and compensate with trees for balance I think. The
rivers are like that because they were actually a fix for ugly ocean tiles, plus allowed
inf/mech movement. I'll definitely make them look nicer when I open that up.

Yes, I did count turns to get to the neutral base and airport (by infantry movement) as
well as turns from the airport to the port and the nearest shoal on "port/base islands" to
nearest shoal on the bottom left island. I also tried to balance the distance to center
for wheeled units which was pretty close if I recall correctly (35-37 movement maybe?)

I think the main distance-type balance issues are the distance from BM's starting bases to
BM's "second-level" neutral cities. While GE can comfortably advance to the next closest
cities from the cities within 2 moves of their bases, BM has a bit if a dead zone in
between. For example, I believe the number of neutral cities at 1,2,3, 4, and 5 infantry
moves from starting bases are respectively: 1,5,2,1,7 for BM and 1,5,3,3,6 for GE. I think
the capture phase will also go a lot smoother for GE because of city-to-city proximity.
That will be fixed when I work on BM's side I hope.

And as far as bans go, the broken 5 obviously along with Sturm, Kindle, and Sasha should
be banned for sure. Lash might be dangerous with heavy terrain and so could Sonja if
played in FoW with all the forests.
