http://awbw.amarriner.com/prevmaps.php?maps_id=48697 The original design for 5312's map, "the epic", is just short of greatness. The setup is solid, and the terraining is mostly okay, but the weak base is a bit too hard to defend, and while that's fine, it makes the potential base trade less interesting than if it had more solid defensive paths and options. Additionally, and perhaps more importantly, the airports are in a position that gives a significantly unfair advantage to the first player to build a copter. By cutting off some of the paths to the weak base, it strengthens the level of defense you can set up there, and the airports are pushed back to the weak base in a position that doesn't force the enemy to build a copter to counter, and one where it should only warrant a single AA to be produced and the AA will be able to react in a reasonable manner. The tower was added as a way to keep the map interesting into the mid and late game. The two center cities are highly contested, and while I considered changing the center setup, it's part of what made the original so cool, so I left them as they were for now. As with all of these remakes, 99.9% of the map goes to the original creator, I'm simply updating them for the current competitive scene. |

I think it would be a nice map. the players can build black boats so they can choose at what point they would like to reinforce their army. |

Unlocking the ports from shoals would be cool I think, if you accumulate enough funds you can build a Carrier and paralyze enemy airpower. |

If you have the money to buy a carrier and don't need a battleship, I think you've already won... Map is interesting, I almost wish that battleships could travel into the map via ghost ports instead of bridges and the shoals around the port removed. Wouldn't that be something. |

I don't think this map is a good map. The central field I don't like this map personally. But I think this map is rather more playable than the 3 maps above. I think this map is too hard to defend on the 2 side roads, which makes the vast central part useless. Also, the incomes is low on this map, so it's not easy to buy a T-copter or a blackboat to capture the tower. I think it will be better if the weak side have more "depth" to defend, and at least have more chance to capture the cities. |
