This is the ninth in a series of maps for an illustrative guide to FTA for new Players.

Explanation of FTA Part 9:

This is a 4 player FFA (free for all) game set up in a way that should counter FTA very
well. Note how simple this FTA counter is, even though we have 4 players. This is an
example, just like in the 4 player team map, of how proper map design makes FTA easy to
counter. The reason this works so well here is because of the way I set the teams up.
Based on these positions, the move order would look like this:

1st ....... 4th
.................
.................
3rd ..... 2nd

Look at the players that move 3rd and 4th. Who can they possibly interact with on this
map? Well, diagonal movement across the middle is pretty much impossible, especially early
in the game. That means that each player will only really have to worry about the person
on either side. In this case, the players that move 3rd and 4th only border the players
that move 1st and 2nd. Therefore Orange and Blue move before all of their neighbors and
Green and Yellow move after all of their neighbors. That means that FTA can be countered
easily since this is very similar to a Orange vs Blue scenario when Blue would always move
second. We know which players are always at a disadvantage and we counter it properly.

Lets now imagine that Blue and Green switched positions. Our turn order would look like
this instead:

1st ....... 4th
.................
.................
2nd ..... 3rd

How do we counter that? Lets take it step by step. We have to give Blue an infantry
because they go after Orange who is right next to them. Now Green, next to blue, goes
second and already has 1 less infantry so he would need 2 infantry to counter Blue's
advantage. But now Yellow goes last and they would need 3 infantry to counter Green. Now
that we're back to Orange, we clearly see that Yellow having 3 infantry would be totally
unfair because Orange has none, so to counter Orange would need 2 infantry. If you gave
Orange those infantry, then Blue would need more and then Green and so on. In the end, it
would not be possible to make this fair based on that setup. This is exactly why it is
important to design FFA maps so that there is a possible way of countering FTA fairly.
This method is the only one I'm familiar with, but there may be others!

I believe that on this site we use to say: Hidden swastica. However I don't know why
people bother about this nazi-sign. I geuss that most peoples parents on this site do not
even have witnessed WO II.

If you want to make this map a good example of a map, I think it could do with less bases.
