Well hello, i had this idea of map when i first entered here XD now that the editor came back to life i finally got the change of doing it :P I follow some of the characteristics of the Hunger Games :) just changed the 13 districts to only 12, symmetry reasons :) and gave the control of some unities to the TG :) There are some rules that i thought of, and i think that increase the fun and also the fairness of the game :) 1) FoW, this game must be played with FoW so the players can be ninjas and make choices that others players dont know :) 2) The 12 districts in the centre must be Sonja, with that no one can see the hp and will think two times before attacking :P 3) The outer district could be Max (Artillery reasons), but maybe Adder or other with 100/100 can be better. 4) The money per day and property must be zero :) but the starting funds not :P the starting funds can be something like 20000 or 15000 :) so use it well, you can buy gadgets (point 5 below) or you can increase your hp in the properties that you capture :P 5) Lab units must be tanks, recons, apcs and maybe artilleries :) and other units are banned, so you only got two soldiers in the game :) For now its all that i can remember and it seems right :) about the FTA i tried to compensate a bit, but since weve got FoW and its a map made of choices i dont think that the FTA gotta win something extra for playing first :P Well, what you say? :) something that i should change? |

Keeping in mind that I know next to nothing about the book or movie series, here is my critique on the map: Certain players like AB, BD, and CI have very early base access while their neighbors might be a much further away from their bases, or might not even have a base nearby that "belongs" to them. What bases are BH and OS supposed to get? AB gets the one to the north, PC gets the one to the west, and there's one more thats 4 days away (clear weather) for OS and 5 for BH that they're supposed to race for? Keep in mind, AB can get to their base on day 1. In contrast, OS instead gets a base, lab, and tower all together (if they beat out BH and don't get picked off by recons) making them powerful and well-defended. I just think there's way too much that can swing drastically in the favor of one player or another solely due to luck of the draw. Its fun to have some of that, but too much just makes it little more than rolling the dice to see if you win. I'm not sure what freedom you have in terms of geographic accuracy, but I would try to make most people have reasonably similar chances, even if you made it so each player only had (equally) easy access to a base *or* a lab (lab players would need a city to heal for fairness) and then see who comes out on top. |

I need to change some rules too, TG with random weather has a really bad time XD i was rainy almost everyday XD But yeah i need to see the movements of the players :) i will analyse the replay of the test game that i did too :) About having a base close doesnt mean that they win because with my rules they need to have a lab too, but i know that maybe i can equalize a bit better the odds :) I think that it is better if i clean the map of properties and then start creating bases and city between each group and then trying to help a bit the ones that suffer with FTA by terrain heavyness or lab or tower or even city, base positioning :) Thank you for the comment :) |

Xmo5 (11/28/2014 01:09pm):
I see you removed all the bases etc. Is it still under construction? Also, I'm fairly certain there's a problem with the random weather algorithm. Maps with more players always seem to have skewed amounts of bad weather. My suspicion is that instead of the logical "10% of [weather] happening during a given day", its calculated like "10% of [weather] on a given turn" so when you have 8 players, there's an 80% chance of [weather] instead of 10%. As far as I know, this hasn't been confirmed or anything, but that makes the most sense to me. |

Yes, im still thinking what to do, i had some weeks of work so only when i am more free i can think and edit :P i was thinking of adding the missiles to give the out player vision but its unfair because of positioning... So i am still thinking what to do XD About the weather, you may be right, since in many many games with random weather, i almost never get a clear weather XD On the test game here, i was TG and i got always Rain or Snow XD |

Hello I changed something :) firstly i tried to give everyone one base. But a base will not offer much alone if you follow the rules. Like i said before, "i follow some of the characteristics of the Hunger Games :) just changed the 13 districts to only 12, symmetry reasons :) and gave the control of some unities to the TG :)" The rules that i wrote before with slight changes are edited on the first comment. Well, what you think now of this? :) I want to make the player to do choices.. If they run to the lab they might get attacked by other player that is arriving.. If they play safe and go to the base they might not have time to run from TG. Many choices XD |

IMO, this isn't really a FFA map, it's more of a last one to be hunted map because of Teal Galaxy's presence. You can't win, even if you're the last one alive. |

InfernusMachine (02/13/2015 11:40am):
On the last map that i did TG was really underpowered :s but we will see :) thats why i want to make a test map :) if TG get too much power i reduce it :) by taking out the tanks for example :) CO being Max and taking out the tanks, what do you think? |
|
InfernusMachine (02/13/2015 11:42am):
But still, i want to make TG a bit more powerful than the rest. The objective is to make the teams on the center to fight to the death but like in the movies they can make teams to go against the Capitol :P if i dont give TG a good beginning power they will lose easily too x) |
|
Darth Hawke (02/19/2015 03:06am):
SPOILERS FOR HUNGER GAMES: Why does TG have to exist at all, though? If this map is suppose to be based on The Hunger Games, then the Capitol has to make the least amount of presence in the game. It's suppose to be each district fighting each other, not fighting each other and the Capitol. The Capitol only interferes with the game when the tributes adapt to whatever environment they are playing at. In the first book, they moved Katniss to be closer to the other tributes and sent the mutts to end Katniss's camping and stalling. In the second book, once the group discovers that the island is shaped like a clock and the disasters happen in a time chart, they spin the island to confuse them. Each time the Capitol makes an appearance, it is to move the direction a little bit to be in their favor and to entertain the viewers. THEY don't directly kill their tributes, the tributes do.[/SPOILERS] |

If you want to make the game more like Hunger Games, I suggest to make the map smaller in some way as to promote each player to fight each other and, thus, eliminate TG all together. You could take the base and lab idea a step closer by banning all units and making the lab unit a Recon, while surrounding that base with pipes to promote vision in FoW. Though it does not relate to the HG at all, it does help promote fights among players when less people are playing. Right now, this map does nothing to stop a 12-man alliance against Teal Galaxy. |

InfernusMachine (02/23/2015 06:08pm):
Hmm... I dont know then.. I liked the idea of having the outsider fighting the ones inside too. But like you said, i dont want to make it 12 against 1 XD Maybe i should then decrease again the power of TG, and make him a bit like the last boss XD that only appears close to the end XD i dont know how i could make a capitol to "control" the island without killing x) maybe giving only artilleries (doesnt have vision, so its hard to attack and i can add pipes so only TG can destroy with his artilleries)... but i dont see much fun with that XD so i think that maybe i should only decrease the power of TG and give time to the 12 districts to fight. :) For example: TG Recons and APCs inside a pipe that can only be destroyed when the Lander arrives and takes the little tank XD And to give more power to the districts i increase their money rule :) In the end TG has: 4 recons, 4 apcs and 4 tanks... Hmm, too much XD i need to decrease even more XD maybe only 4 apcs and 4 tanks and having only this last ones closed while the apcs are moving on the island :) with this i can also make "enemies" someone that attacks the APCs are an enemy of the Capitol XD What you think? |

You could do an idea where Teal Galaxy has to wait to buy a certain unit, or have them bust out a pipe seam to stall Teal Galaxy. |
