I wanted to try to make a map with loads of different team makeups. 4vs4, free for all, 2x4, whatever. Say in 4vs4, the southwest area would need to not get greedy with factories and ports, otherwise OS would take ages to get to the action. At the same time, it's alot harder for RF to come to BD's aid if they get attacked directly. In 2x4, GE could use their monopoly on factories to beat down OS, but they'd also suffer attacks from RF, making it a more risky, high demand position to be in. Ok, I didn't put any thought into that when making the map but it kinda sorta... almost works... Right? |

Well, generally speaking, forcing players to have to cross sea and land in enemy territory doesn't work well, it's too easy to defend the shorelines. With this particular map though, it might work if you add a bunch more shoals, probably at least 50% of each shoreline should be (not blocked by mountains) shoals. Also, it tends to be tough to keep games with more than 4 people reliably active. That's not a map problem so much as a site problem, but it's how it usually goes. |
