Orange Star needs to make it all the way to Blue Moon HQ and capture it to win! Blue Moon
is outmanned, but has the benefit of the forests and mountains to make sneak attacks. Can
Orange Star make it to the end and capture the HQ? Or will Blue Moon make precision
strikes and wipe out Orange Star before they make it?

Testing this for balance, edits to it are likely to come. The single Blue Moon infantry is
meant as a counter, in case of a mountain-induced stalemate (IE if OS manages to capture
an airport and parks a helicopter on there permanently).

Fog should be on, funds should be on as well to cover repairs. This map works well with a
turn limit as well. It takes OS 10 turns to reach BM HQ and capture, assuming they are
uninterrupted, so you will want the turn limit higher than that. 20 or so should work.

CO bans: anyone who has a power that lets them create units (Sensei, Hachi, etc.).

2/7/15: Reduced the number of BM units, added some locked in BM recons for more vision.
Removed 3 of the OS B-copters as well.

I'm no map building expert but....
Orange star has no means to build anything so blue moon will eventually win
This seems like something you would play in advance wars 2
pen (01/06/2015 09:26pm):
Um... What exactly can BM build? Unless a base or two is covered, I can't really find any, the airports are
refuel only, and there are no ports. It looks like OS will take out a BM b-copter right off the bat (if fog is off),
and advance with an APC/infantry wall as it inevitably mows over BM.
maplepancakes (01/06/2015 09:44pm):
there's no bases, and like pen said, the airports are refuel-only.

Fog should definitely be on too, OS can easily win if fog is off.
dudeman33 (01/06/2015 11:14pm):
The thing is though that the green troops don't have an HQ
So once the match starts they will dissapear ( that how awbw works)
walkerboh01 (01/06/2015 11:58pm):
They're called ghost units, and even though they disappear it means that no units can be built
from those airports (and also no units can be joined on them, and one or two other minor things
that I once knew but forgot).

Anyways, I would give OS a turn limit that they have to win by. Otherwise it's trivial for them to
win with superior unit count and value.
Xmo5 (01/07/2015 09:37am | Edited: 01/07/2015 09:39am):
As far as ghosting is concerned, the only other things I can think of that you missed are
that units can't be unloaded onto any ghosted tile and if cities are ghosted then Sensei's
COP/SCOP have no impact on those cities. Same with Hachi's SCOP, but that's already
covered under "not able to build units".

Also, the idea of giving OS a time limit instantly makes this map 1000% better. I always
forget you can do things like that because they're so rarely used here.
maplepancakes (01/07/2015 01:04pm):
A turn limit does sound like a good idea! I've got some test maps going, so I'll see how
many turns those take to complete, to get a ballpark estimate of what to try in terms of
turn limits.
Ninja_Weasel (01/07/2015 02:34pm):
I would pick a number of days that will be fairly challenging. Just keep in mind that it
has to be over 10 because that's the minimum number of turns OS would need to win without
interference.
Nyvelion (01/07/2015 03:00pm):
If there's a turn limit, they may have to run through the woods.
walkerboh01 (01/07/2015 03:18pm):
I would guess that a turn limit of 25 or so is probably pretty good.
the-deadly-shadow (01/07/2015 03:23pm | Edited: 01/07/2015 03:29pm):
I would suggest giving BM a base (maybe locked by mountains/rivers for infantery-only production), so if OS
does not attack, BM can strengthen their army. This might be more interesting as OS might want to take
capture BM as quick as possible and taking more (than reasonable) risk, or being to slow.

Even in fog, missiles have 5 vision. So the BM battlecopter is in sight and range the first turn. The northern
refuel airports can be locked by missiles.

Another point is that copters have only 3 vision, so they can not act on their own vision. Niether has BM
significant amount of infantery to gain vision at the mountains, so they are not as 'free' to attack where they
want and need recons near their targets.

Also the number of OS and BM copters is unconfortable, if you ask me. As OS can easily rush the mountains
with 5 copters to take out the smaller groups of BM-vision lacking- copters and capturing the refuel airports.

However I think the concept is nice. 7/10
maplepancakes (01/07/2015 07:57pm):
Another flaw I noticed: if you play as Sonja, both of the copters are visible from the start.

The big thing is that I don't want BM to be able to win by capture early on, so here are
my thoughts for editing this map:

1: single-squares of forests within the mountains, where recons are placed. Since they're
forested, someone can only get to them via foot soldiers or air units, and using air units
to go wipe out the recons would not be a good use of resources with a time limit in place.
It solves the problem of visibility for BM without giving BM infantry close to the OS base.

2: moving the OS missile launchers to the front of the group, near the OC copters, so they
don't take out the BM copters on day 1. Also, cutting the number of missile launchers down
to 1.
ptaward (01/12/2015 08:18pm):
Both teams have close to the same amount of units. I recommend giving OS
more or BM less to even things out. BM has advantage of hiding in the
woods the majority of the game.
