Dullahan (05/20/2005 08:27pm):
Ports are useless on this map except for in FOW, but even then, air units are still going to dominate as long as they have a submarine or recon acting as spotter. The corners ought to have shoals to make navy more useful, and there are far too many airports. 4/10. |

i think that there are too many airports too. but, i dont think ports are useless.so To get a airport and four factory, it needs to taransport units to center. but this lord is too narrow to transport units enough.due to this, you have to use lander.and To interrupt this, you will use bom or sub. that's interesting. 6/10 |

Non-FOW: It's really obvious when your opponent is using landers to transport land units to the center. One bomber ($22000 investment) can easily OHKO (with most COs) landers ($12000) which are most likely containing at least around $10000 in land units (tanks = $7000, AA = $8000, infantry = $1000). Considering that bombers are reusable and usable for other purposes AND have a higher movement range than standard landers, it's not worth using landers. Yes, they can use cruisers as air defense, but bombers aren't that much more expensive than cruisers and have a better movement range and are more useful in general. Add to that the chokepoints, and you complete the mastery of air units over even land units - the one effective counter to bombers is AA and AA can't drive over water. If you're planning on transporting soldiers, use T-copters instead because they aren't hindered by the road and don't need to fear AAs on the way there. Even the most minimal of protection from B-copters will keep away cruisers (who will lose to a first strike by the B-copters). No point in a navy during non-FOW. In FOW though, then landers become far more useful yes, but I stand by my first comment that ports are useless outside of FOW. In general, on most maps, air dominates navy. The only exception is when there are special circumstances, such as far isolated airports and close-by ports. |
