Nyvelion (05/15/2015 06:07pm):
Such a great, fitting map name. For a map containing only the curviest units of AW. |
Xmo5 (05/16/2015 10:52pm):
Piggies as my cousin and I call 'em. |
Nyvelion (05/17/2015 12:57pm):
...what? |
Jackie Milton (05/17/2015 01:30pm):
Lol. Amber Blaze has no tank. I think we all know who the REAL winner is. -J.B.M. (The "B" stands for "this is Better than my first map") |
Xmo5 (05/18/2015 09:05am | Edited: 05/18/2015 09:07am):
[reply to Jackie] Here, I'll give you some context as I reply to Jackie: [reply to Jackie] "Nice catch! My guess is they ended up with an OS piggy because when you go to the map design page, the OS units are the default, though the menu to the side reads "Amber Blaze" because they're first alphabetically. Since you haven't yet made a selection, it could make it look like you're placing an AB unit (unless you actually know what all the countries' units look like). OS got an OS piggy because I'm sure the map maker selected OS from the menu later and the same units popped up. Make sense?" [/reply to Jackie] We might also say something like "Personally, I'd just build a piggy since he's got a muddy in the area." (Muddy= Md. Tank) Those are the only 2 units we do that to, mostly because my cousin had always misread Md. as Mud so it sorta became a joke when he showed me the game and I was like... I think that means Medium... Piggies are piggies because, well, they look kinda like pigs. This kind: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domestic_pig Not this kind: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pigging (though you might be able to argue the case that they're more similar to the latter...) [/reply to Jackie] There's actually nothing else for me to add out here. |
MorganLeah (05/18/2015 02:10pm):
Really though, they look like octoroks (well, the 2D ones at least) |
Jackie Milton (05/18/2015 04:56pm):
Haha, thank you, X, for your Jackie-ception remark; I too try to be ambiguous ;) Speaking of ambiguity, I don't like the idea of Md. Tanks being "Medium Tanks." Let me explain. In AW1 there were Tanks and Md. Tanks. No Large Tanks, no Mega Tanks, just Tanks and Md. Tanks. To say that Md. Tanks are truly "medium" would imply that they are in fact half of a regular Tank, maybe something the artillery spotter remote commands on his free time. In AWBW, I guess it may make some sense, but the complaints is still legitimate. My preference is that they are "Mass Destruction Tanks," but that is ultimately also incorrect as they are "Md." not "M.D." I think the only logical solution is to call them "Meddling Tanks" because they are an annoyance on several different levels. -J.R.M. (The "R" stands for "Rants about stupid stuff") |
Nyvelion (05/18/2015 08:51pm | Edited: 07/25/2016 05:45am):
Ah, I'm slow today, makes more sense when not reading it as "Piggies as my cousin, and I call 'em." with the pause in the wrong spot. |
Xmo5 (05/18/2015 11:02pm):
Hey, if we're going to get caught up in what Md. could refer to, I vote for sticking with the pre-established "Mud" concept. Also, I'll have to make sure to call my cousin "Piggies" or something like that next time I see him. Or maybe I'll have to call him on the phone and ask for piggies... or transmute him into a pig.. or something. Also, I haven't *gasp* played any Legend of Zelda games, but you're right Morgan. I could have organized my replies a little better here. Mad Tanks could work too. M.A.D. tanks were a thing in a couple Red Alert games I think, but I'm not sure you could abbreviate an acronym, so Mad will simply have to refer to the tanks' emotional or mental state. |
walkerboh01 (05/19/2015 01:07am):
I definitely read it the same way Jacqueline did. |
the-deadly-shadow (05/19/2015 12:30pm | Edited: 05/19/2015 12:31pm):
I think you should rename the map as : piggy piggy tank. I think the best thing of this map is the story of Xmo calling Neotanks piggies. Also muddies were fun, but piggies are better, that is obvious. By the way: the piggies of the non-original countries are less beautifull. |
Xmo5 (05/19/2015 01:27pm):
Yo, Shadow, I'm really happy for you, imma let you finish, but GS has the most beautiful piggies of all time... The most beautiful piggies of all time! |
the-deadly-shadow (05/19/2015 02:06pm):
I agree that the piggy of GS is also beautiful, I thought it was just like the others, but it isn't. It is quite remarkable that you need several infantry to beat a piggy. I start asking myself why I always thought bombing piggies would be a good idea. |
Nyvelion (05/19/2015 05:18pm | Edited: 05/19/2015 05:22pm):
You guys called me by my name ♥ I like it. Not feeling too bad about the map comments being derailed, I figured the map creator wasn't coming back anyway, so he won't mind. |
the-deadly-shadow (05/20/2015 02:37am):
To honor the same style as piggies we could call battle ships and battle copters 'bat copters' and 'bat ships'. I guess piggies do not like bats. Anyway, the comment award is Xmo's again like on dudeman33's 'introducing the sea units'. I think Xmo is more genious than I expected. |
Xmo5 (05/20/2015 06:37am):
I didn't know we were giving out awards, but I'll happily accept any you want to throw at me =P (This is where someone comes in and says "Yo, X, I'm really happy for you, imma let you finish, but Jacqueline had one of the greatest comments of all time!") Oh, also, I'm all about the name thing, though I had thought about using Nyv here because of the two Jackies, but I figured the dueling Jackie comment would be better all around. :) I suppose I could have just used Jacqueline (or Jem), but then how would we have derailed the comments so quickly? |
Jackie Milton (05/20/2015 03:04pm):
I can say that I am a little late to this game as it has been around for years without my knowing. But it has not been so late that I couldn't appreciate the wonders of Dudeman33. Who could forget the magnificent "Blue Moon vs. Back Hole", or any others "apart of the Dudeman Legacy"? X, I know where you are coming from in regards to Zelda. I have not played any Legend of Zelda either, and I get shovel-loads of crap for it. Jeez. ugh. it's not MY fault I never had a gameboy in my early development years. -J.C.M. (The "C" stands for "Childhoodless") |
Nyvelion (05/20/2015 03:54pm):
Nobody has played Link's Awakening here... : ( |
Xmo5 (05/20/2015 04:34pm):
Yeah, never had a gameboy (or any such hand-held gaming device), but I got an SNES in about 1997... followed by a used PlayStation from my friend in like 2001 when he was getting a PS2. Now I'm rocking my SNES, a PS1, 2 PS2s, and a Wii. And, like, I'm all for Zelda, I'm sure I'd love the games, but y'all best back off my Yoshi's Island cuz I rocked that so hard back in elementary school. (See, this is what happens when I have enough time to comment on maps, but not enough time to do anything substantial. The fact that the maps page has been stagnant for a few days only exacerbates the issue.) |
Nyvelion (05/20/2015 04:43pm | Edited: 05/20/2015 05:01pm):
Well it's not like anything is happening on the forum, so this is where the real discussion happens. I'd love to comment on something there, especially something not relating to AW for a change, but there's nothing else going on... These off topic map comments... they're just about all we have now for talking to each other as people instead of just as AW players. |
Jackie Milton (05/20/2015 05:45pm):
I never even had any of those old systems. I just ended up playing whatever strange PC games I found in my basement like Serious Sam or Star Wars Galaxies. Speaking of which, the AWBW community is fairly similar to the SWG community in that you battle-scarred veterans (X and Jacqueline specifically) are always willing help clueless newbs like me (need I remind you of Western Shootout....). We've even got our own Dudeman33; his name is Houseman. One in the same? Who knows.... -J.D.H.M. (The "D.H." stands for "Dryuv Hyosaq (Because I didn't know I couldn't change my name later on)") |

Xmo5 (05/21/2015 08:46am):
Your only regret is that you never got to witness amigo's... abilities. (Yes, that's a statement I'm making on your behalf) There have been many "dudemen" throughout the history of AWBW, yet amigo is the only one I ever find myself missing. Somehow, those were good times. Throughout my childhood, my family would go on a repeated vacation (every 3-5 years or so) to this state park in Virginia and we'd have aunts/uncles, cousins, and friends of family reserve like every cabin they had along the lake. Easily a family favorite vacation. One year, this kid was there (his mom was my aunt's friend) and he was sooo over the top and everyone was constantly annoyed by his attention-hungry antics and low IQ (well, he could be smart, but if so, he certainly threw us off his trail on that one). We couldn't do a single thing without him tagging along either and by the end, all of us kids were so fed up with him. Yet somehow, in looking back, that year was by far the best year we've ever had there (pretty unanimously among my cousins/sisters and I) because there were just so many good stories of him being so dumb that we can look back on and laugh about. This kid was the amigo of my real life- a brief ripple of annoyance in a vast sea of experiences that somehow made some of the most enjoyable and lasting memories I have. God I miss that kid... I just don't ever want to meet him again. |
Nyvelion (05/21/2015 02:11pm):
huh... I wonder how many people see me that way. |
Xmo5 (05/21/2015 05:40pm):
Let me tell you, you'd have to try reallllyyyy hard to be on this kid's level. But on the other hand, the less tolerant might have viewed a young me in a similar light haha. |
Jackie Milton (05/21/2015 07:16pm):
Ah, this brings good memories back from Scout camp. (Not that I'm like forty or anything. Can't a teenager reminisce?) I doubt those times wouldn't have been quite as fun without the expense of others. You can always count on some weirdo to make a good story. Lots of weirdos in scouts. Like me. haha...ha..ha...*crying* -J.G.M. "Jr." (The "G" stands for "Goober") |
Xmo5 (05/21/2015 09:23pm | Edited: 05/22/2015 08:59am):
I'm a goofy goober! (Rock!) Also, I'm thoroughly enjoying the only existing game on this map. I almost burst out laughing at work reading the broadcasts :) |
the-deadly-shadow (05/24/2015 01:57pm | Edited: 10/11/2015 08:21am):
Maybe it will be a historical game. Will anyone ever watch this map again after the game has finished and has been deleted? If nobody watches it, it will also be the only game on the map. |
Nyvelion (05/31/2015 08:27pm):
Hmm, wasn't going for entertaining... I was just frustrated. I guess I have entertained others by letting my Irish temper get the best of me though. Too bad the broadcasts got a little more disturbing recently. |
Xmo5 (06/02/2015 01:45pm):
For the record, and totally on-topic: I can safely reveal now that I was very upset that there was no neotank in the middle of this map- http://awbw.amarriner.com/prevmaps.php?maps_id=65864 Having the piperunner is /alright/, and obviously an improvement over the similarly erroneous original, but come on, you should know better than that by now. Alternatively, since the map title is a question, it could simply be answered by "no", (also an improvement over the original) but I don't like that as much as being accurate and descriptive. Pls chng. kthxbai. Also, Re:Broadcasts- Yes. I saw that. I (mostly) agreed (*all* is a very strong word) but, then again, I thought that was mostly implied and never really needed to make it to the brain-internet interface. Though I suppose it is man talk, so I guess that will always be interpreted as an excuse for the blood to leave the brain and head south. Not sure if you were aware, but there's a major quantity vs quality trade off with respect to thoughts (which are inevitably announced) when this event occurs and the shift is undeniably in favor of the former. |
Nyvelion (06/02/2015 10:17pm):
...I may have noticed that in the past. In a way. I'll leave that story for someplace away from this map... |
the-deadly-shadow (06/22/2015 03:16am):
I did not expect to find a comment on my map here. However I think the comment of a missing neotank is related to this map. Also the title of my map is maybe the explaination for the comment. Maybe this map-committee(mr. blue box) is just joking as he placed it also somewhere else at site. |
Xmo5 (07/01/2015 06:47am):
I was absolutely joking... but I meant every word. :P |

Xmo5 (12/21/2015 05:03pm):

I'm sad everybody left. This was an awesome comment thread. |
Nyvelion (08/03/2016 04:53pm):
I can come back. Though I'm still not sure if I was supposed to be here to begin with. I've been described as many, many things, and manly is not one of them. |
Xmo5 (08/08/2016 11:02am):
There's always time to turn a new leaf, yanno. |
Nyvelion (08/08/2016 12:02pm | Edited: 08/08/2016 12:03pm):
...hmm... ok. I guess I wouldn't be who I am now if I didn't impulsively accept strange ideas as challenges. Ok, time to be manly... How do I do that? I've observed men before, but mostly just to assess their threat level, I have not tried to act like one before. Is it hard? Do I have to talk about sports? I hate sports, so I want to skip that part. Do I have to brag about my sexual experiences and call my former partners sluts? I'm actually kinda open about certain subjects like that, but I don't think I could talk about it the same way guys do and would never see it as a conquest or achievement. Do I have to stop shaving things? Because... that would actually be perfect, you may have no idea how much of a pain that is. Do I have to be demeaning to women? I can do that normally to those who deserve it, but I don't like the way men do it, it's different. Ooh, can I be taken more seriously in the job market and earn more money? That part of being a man sounds nice, if I could just have that, that would be nice. That and being praised for being a heroic single dad. They get treated better. I would know. |
Xmo5 (08/08/2016 01:08pm):
I'm a man and I don't do any of those things, except the last one, but that's sort of out of my control. I have been known to mow the lawn from time to time, though. |
Nyvelion (08/08/2016 01:11pm):
That one isn't an option to me. I don't have a lawn to mow. Also I don't have a lawnmower. Also I don't know how to use a lawnmower. Also it's too hot outside. There must be some other way, or else this isn't going to work. |
Xmo5 (08/08/2016 01:22pm):
Well, I'm glad you don't have a lawnmower... it would seem like a waste of money if you didn't have a lawn, unless you were in the lawn mowing business. However, judging by the fact that you don't know how to use a lawnmower, I'm going to gamble that you aren't and have no aspirations to be. How about beer? Do you drink beer? |
Nyvelion (08/08/2016 01:46pm):
Correct assumption. The only law mowing aspiration I've ever had was secretly mowing a message on unclaimed land for Google Earth to pick up that I could show everyone on Google Maps. But I never got around to that. No beer. Don't like it. I don't see how anyone could. It's the wrong way to get a buzz out of alcohol. Maybe there's another way? May be time to give up soon though. |
Xmo5 (08/08/2016 02:00pm):
Okay, well we agree on the beer part, it seems. Hmm.... Do you aspire to be the Old Spice guy? What about lifting very heavy things just for the sake of saying you can lift them? Grunting in acknowledgement when people ask you yes or no questions? Wrestling bears? Eating a bowl of nails for breakfast with motor oil for milk? Getting a manly tattoo of a feather and a butterfly on your wrist, or perhaps the side of your foot? Wait... ... |
Nyvelion (08/09/2016 09:37am):
I don't want to do any of those things... I should go, I don't have what it takes to be manly. ...which is fine actually. |
Xmo5 (08/09/2016 01:00pm):
Well, I still only have lawn mowing in my corner, if that makes you feel better (and sometimes the nails/motor oil for breakfast, but not usually) I'm sure we can find a way for you to be manly. |
the-deadly-shadow (06/20/2017 04:14pm):
I think the existentense of solutions for this problem can be shown. I don't know how you think about Math, Hacking or AWBW, mostly things done mainly by men. Or maybe that is not really what a Manly Man is supposed to do. I think this is a wonderfull map, an I would dislike it if people do not enjoy it in 2017. It is a pity that Diamyo87 is gone. |
Jackie Milton (07/29/2017 12:04am):
Upvote if you are enjoying this in 2017. |
