Wake up! Grab a brush and put a little makeup!
Jackie Milton (09/18/2015 08:31pm):
I know the reference, and yet I've never listened to the song. (I may if I have time or
willingness (When I'm old (maybe dying)))

Haha I actually listened to the song before I knew that everybody had heard it. My cousin had the
album and I put all the music on my computer and then realized much later that everybody knew
about it haha.
Jackie Milton (09/19/2015 12:23pm):

Nah, I was late to the party on that one. I just didn't know that there had been a party :P
Jackie Milton (09/19/2015 08:46pm):
That has happened to me too. Like AWBW. I've been playing AW on visualboy advance for like
10 years. If only I knew...

So it only takes 8 comments for you to advertise one of your maps :P I only ever drop Western Shootout as
an example of what a bad map looks like. Plus it's a good origin story.

Your sample pool is limited. The data isn't representative. I've been acquitted of all
charges. Can't touch this.

(Also, technically you're the one who name dropped my map.. I just drew attention to it :P )

Just tried it out with a friend. It's a pretty good time if each person gets a corner. We both managed to
secure one and ended up majorly brawling it out in the middle and on the high seas.
Xmo5 (09/23/2015 04:44pm):
My concern here is that things will easily become one sided once a player gains an
advantage. Basically, all a player has to do is push the other player back a few spaces
from the diagonal center-line and they'll get everything they need to win. In an ideal
situation, there's more give and take, so that you can make a good comeback if you plan
well. You can see from your game how it was impossible to compete once the corner islands
were lost.

In general, it's hard to make island maps work because of this principle combined with the
fact that any island you own can easily be protected by lining the shoals/ports with
infantry. As a result you either end up with a single maneuver costing the game, or a
stalemate heavy game where neither player can effectively advance and gain ground/funding.
My advice in a situation like this is to make the center the primary area of (land)
combat. Make the HQ and corner islands smaller with less funding and let players land in
the middle, have a land battle over the bulk of the funding, and use navy to support the
land battle with bships and/or gain control over the corner islands.

Oh shoot. I guess there's a map up there....
