Hey y'all... I haven't posted a map in a while... But I figured like making one :) As always though I am looking for constructive criticism. So please comment and say were and how you think it could be better. |
yaldah (10/13/2015 12:41am):
I dont like contested com towa 1st! the S stands for 'stand' |
Jackie Milton (10/13/2015 06:03am):
Yes, the accessibility of the comm tower makes for an unbalanced game. I would surround it with pipes or oceans. ;) -J.H.M. (The "H" stands for "Hey, that's my thing...") |

Lol ok I will change it... I may actually just take it out... Maybe replace it with a city or a lab... The C stands for (Can I do it too?) |
BountyFrog (10/13/2015 07:17am):
And I was also thinking that maybe I should remove the mountains blocking the path to the enemy HQ... I mean, they start with black boats to avoid any major rushes, But I don't want it to become a stalemate in the middle either. |
Jackie Milton (10/13/2015 04:22pm):
I was just mostly poking fun at "Big Y" (if you've looked at his(or hers? my bad poetry contemplates this) recent maps), but, I do think removing the middle tower diminishes FTA and keeps one player from gaining a big advantage. I think removing the mountains was a good idea as it prevents a big stalemate in the middle. Difficult to say how much the ports will be used, but who knows. Also, I think Kindle is a def. ban here with all those properties right on the front lines. -J.G.M. (The "G" stands for "I Guess so") |
BountyFrog (10/13/2015 06:31pm):
Nope... Never seen his/hers maps... Sorry Yeah, I may take away two of the ports... |
Dreadnought (10/14/2015 05:06pm):
Wait, wasn't your bad poetry making fun of Ryex and not yaldah? |
Bamboozle (10/14/2015 07:37pm):
Contested central properties won't necessarily help to stir up action on a front. Here, in this case, it will likely be too easy for the first side to capture that central city to win the front. Which is why you practically never see them on competitive- styled maps, the imbalance they create might look small but is subtle enough to affect the game considerably. |
Jackie Milton (10/14/2015 10:31pm):
Oh! yes, you are right. I suppose I mix up the victims of my humor. Nevertheless, both seem to be making er... questionable maps. Not to say that mine aren't questionable either. But pretty much all of my maps are jokes anyway, except maybe my newest, but that is up for debate too... also, you think my poetry is bad? *sniffle* -J.N.M. (The "N" stands for "Note: ryex and yaldah are individual human beings with unique personalities; or, they are programs disguised as people maintaining my false reality") |
Dreadnought (10/15/2015 06:25am):
I actually think that the random poems people write making fun of questionable maps are hilarious and usually fairly decent. I only called it bad because you described it as so and I was trying to be consistent. |
Xmo5 (10/15/2015 08:55am):
I, for one, welcome our false reality overlords. *SO SHOULD YOU* Ahem... sorry, something in my throat there. Now, moving on, that central city should really be removed for reasons explained by Bamboozle. Also, it might be a good idea to have the shoals connect to the center area along the top right and bottom left corners, and remove a lot of shoal from the left and right. This does two things: 1) It stops the battle from being a straight shot right up the middle by extending the distance the the center and making the path a little more indirect. 2) It gives you some more room to work with on the top and bottom fronts, which are currently a little thin and very straight. With some more real estate (the shoals where I mentioned) you can afford to throw a mountain or two in to spice it up a bit without it getting too chokey. |
Jackie Milton (10/15/2015 04:16pm):
Yes, haha. But I sometimes do put too much energy into my poems, especially when I consider rhyme scheme, syllables, and meter... -J.W.M. (The "W" stands for "Who is to say that everything I know isn't a component of my false reality...") |
Xmo5 (10/15/2015 04:39pm | Edited: 10/15/2015 04:44pm):
This is a great new way to experience reality.... *IF YOU CAN GET PAST ALBERT* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-ViugtfWSk |
