I chose to make this map instead of sleeping, and have work in a few hours, fun times haha. In theory, the FTA from OS corner infantry is somewhat countered by the known strong STA from first turn base capture by BM, which is in turn 'countered' by strong first and second turn captures by the weak OS base. But who knows, just wacky ideas based on Stormiest Glen and whatnot. But I'll be continuing to support AWBW more in the future once again with more maps and more content, starting with this stuff. |

You should probably sleep more... Just saying Also I like the idea where they have to choose between 4 cities or an airport and a city. |
Mori2 (10/20/2015 02:58pm):
I'm still pretty sure getting the 4 city econ boom is worth more than the other two choices overall, but it's interesting to note that if you choose the tower/port route, you get an extra infantry on that front (this is intentional). You can choose to not go that route and still easily capture the tower with another infantry, but it's interesting to think about I guess. I'm curious as to if that significantly affects the 2v1 down there when combined with the guaranteed early tower. Odds are it's the incorrect choice but I can tweak the corner gimmick a bit if needed to encourage it. |

I don't know if the 5 cities is the best choice... I think the airport is... Another way think or it is and extra 5k funds or have air units... Because if you choose the 5 cities will have no air whatsoever. And the port and tower can just be gotten later |

I tend to agree that I think the 4k income boost will be the best choice. More than likely, when comparing a player who captures the cities vs one who captures the airport, the advantages of the 4 cities might be near impossible to reverse by the time regular air unit production is viable. I think mostly it's the fact that you get the 4k immediately, which ramps up how quickly you can pump (more) vehicles out there. Sure, you can send copters early instead of tanks, but really that won't make much difference unless you can really force your opponent into 2AA for 1 copter, and even then 8k doesn't make up that much ground when you're losing (long term) 2k per turn. (though you make back an extra 2.5k by using a tcopter instead of a bboat if you get that island city, and you could reasonably get it earlier and even salvage the infantry that way, so maybe that would help a bit) |

Hm... Maybe... I get what you are saying. |

as somebody who usually considers copters mandatory units i'll weigh in here. usually, copters are valued for a few things: they don't take damage from tanks, they aren't constrained by terrain, and they allow you to pump out more infs. They also force the opponent to build AAs instead of more tanks, improving the matchup for your own tanks. However, they do cost more than tanks, so it's possible or even likely that you will be facing a vehicle disadvantage in the long run. Here, there's basically one big front, so you can't take full dvantage of the copter's ability to switch fronts. Though there are some mountains, those are sparse enough that vehicles won't have any trouble switching from top to bottom or back. In short, AAs can easily chase BCs around the map, so you won't be able to force any advantage from building copters. Moreover, the small size of the fronts for 3 bases means that you'll likely have plenty infs on the frontlines even if you have to use your factories for producing vehicles most of the time. So I don't really see a lot of value of having the airport here (assuming stealths are banned), since choosing the 4 cities gets you a long-term funding advantage and more initial funds as well. If you pick the airport, you'll have to hope that your copters net you enough dynamic potential that you can capture an extra contested city to nullify the opponent's advantage, which I'm somewhat dubious of. |

upon taking a second look, I find it interesting that if you take the airport and your opponent goes for 4 cities, you can actually build a t-copter and capture the other guy's airport, since he has no way of capturing it himself. Then you'd have air units and no monetary disadvantage. Of course, this is assuming your opponent allows you to do that. |
